Musical career
A native of Canada, Sneed got his start playing in Little Daddy and the Bachelors alongside future comedian Tommy Chong, who was married to his older sister. After relocating to Los Angeles, he joined Three Dog Night in their earliest days. They recorded some of the top hits of the late 1960s and early ‘70s, including “One,” “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” “Black and White,” and “Shambala.” Sneed typically only played drums without contributing any vocals, but in “Joy to the World,” his bass voice can be heard toward the end of the song singing “I wanna tell you.” Sneed left Three Dog Night in 1974 but returned for a reunion in the 1980s. He also played with other bands including SS Fools, K.A.T.T., and Same Dog New Tricks, and he toured with the Ohio Players.
