Yahoo News Britain's Got Talent's Amanda Holden 'backtracks' over Golden Buzzer as act's career rumbled
Just moments after saying it 'was too early' for a Golden Buzzer in the new series of Britain' Got Talent judge Amanda Holden 'backtracked' to hit it for singer Syndnie Christmas on Saturday night. However not everyone is pleased, as viewers have uncovered the fact that Sydnie already has a professional career.
Just over half an hour into the ITV show's return, Sydnie took to the stage and was instantly put on the back foot when Amanda revealed that the song she was planning to sing, Tomorrow from Annie, was in fact colleague Simon Cowell's least favourite song. Undeterred by Amanda's quip, Sydnie launched into a stunning rendition of the musical classic and it didn't take long for X (Twitter) to be awash with predictions that she was going to be the first Golden Buzzer recipient of the new series.
Fans' instincts proved to be spot on when a moving version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow started to play in the background, as the judges were giving their feedback, before Amanda told Sydnie that her cover of Tomorrow was the most stunning version she'd 'ever heard' and then hit the buzzer, sending gold confetti flying down from the ceiling onto the stage below and putting Sydnie straight through to the live semi finals.

Just like Amanda, there were plenty of Britain's Got Talent viewers who were blown away by Sydnie's vocals. However, amongst all the praise, there was also some criticism, as people became aware of the fact that Sydnie already has a professional career and has appeared in hit musicals like Grease, Lazarus and Starlight Express, with evidence of each easily traceable online and on social media.
Hitting out at Amanda's 'predictable' choice, one viewer writing on X posted: "Amanda being predictable with her golden buzzer act again" as another ranted: "Everyone does know that Sydnie girl is a west end star already…. Cheated her way to that Golden Buzzer!"
