Great little side trip from Lille! Wife and I took the train from Flanders station in Lille, a $3, 10-minute ride. Simple walk to museum and what a delightful venue. Great restaurant and simple stroll. Plan for 2 hours plus more if you rest and eat. Back to Lille on train with no fuss.

Unexpected place in the middle of the City, with an incredible range of trees and plants. have a 20 minutes rest there if you get the chance, listening birds and walking in the green path.

Another great day watching the Queen of the Classics
Brilliant atmosphere - huge crowds - fantastic weather.
Never actually got into the velodrome as we watch the race in 3 or 4 locations on route but huge screens outside.
Only negative - bar sold out of beer 😬🍺

While the velodrome doesn't look like much the monument Paris - Roubaix finishes here. To walk or ride around in it is to hear the whispers of the past crowds and winners. Lovely gentleman that was the janitor, he even opened up the mythical showers for us!

I did not know about this place, I found about it when I picked up the agenda "sortir" of Lille. This place is a former fabric that has been transformed into a place for temporary exhibitions and events. When I went they had three events: a Market for handmade local clothes, a flamenco show (at night) and the exhibition Street Generations(s). The place was packed with locals. The exhibition contains the major names of street art from Jef Aerosol to the modern Banksy. The exhibition is until June 18 2017. The restaurant serves "slow food" which was very tasty but indeed slow. I do not know if the place is new or old, but I think it is phenomenal that Roubaix counts with this space.

Shopping Villages in much of Western Europe don't hold a candle to the US or Australia for example, but if you're a keen shopper it's worth spending an hour here. There's a coffee shop with such obscure beverages as cappuccino and macchiato - unusual indeed in France; plus 70 good quality outlets around a reasonably attractive pedestrian-only street/concourse. Underground parking is plentiful.

The Church is located in the center of Roubaix, in front of Hotel de Ville, so is easily accessible either by car or by public transport. Inside is as big and impressive as almost every church in the region.

If you're in Roubaix for one of the tourist attractions, especially La Piscine, this is a nice photostop and something to walk through.
