Chris Pine Explains That Shocking Full-Frontal ‘Outlaw King’ Scene

Last night, the new Netflix film Outlaw King made waves when critics realized that star Chris Pine bares it all in a jaw-dropping full-frontal scene. The scene in question is pretty tame — Pine’s character, Scottish warrior Robert the Bruce, isn’t even boning anyone; he just gets out of the water with his man parts hanging out — but the news practically broke the internet, and now, Pine is giving fans a little context. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pine addresses the hoopla and explains that fans should focus on the film’s brutal fight scenes, not his dong. Fat chance, Chris.

Pine opened by telling THR that “it was very cold” the day that they filmed that scene. We can neither confirm nor deny that the weather impacted his junk in Outlaw King — our Joe Reid says the full-frontal moment is “VERY quick” — but die-hard Chris-fans will likely screenshot the scene when the movie hits Netflix, so it makes sense that Pine would want to cover his bases in advance. Pine went on to explain that they filmed the scene “on the side of a major highway,” so a few lucky drivers may have gotten a sneak-peek at the film’s most vulnerable moment.

“What I find very funny is that there’s so much beheading in this. And yet, people want to talk about my penis,” said Pine. “And I think that says something about our society where people can get disemboweled but it’s the man’s junk that is of interest.” I mean fair, I guess, but any additional info that clarifies the proper order of Chrises is much appreciated. Who cares about beheadings or disembowelments that may or may not have happened 800 years ago? The Chris Power Rankings are much more relevant to our day-to-day lives. So yeah, dude, your dick matters!

While Pine doesn’t quite get the cultural importance of his full-frontal scene, he at least understands that the moment adds value to the film itself. “Really, we’re just base animals,” he said. “And I thought it was very important to see this man who’s going to have power be an animal.”

Outlaw King (and Chris Pine’s nude scene) premieres on Netflix on November 9.
