JASON SOUDAH : MASTERING

Adapting to the COVID-19 Pandemic-induced downturn in movie/tv production, which lightened Jason’s Composer workload, Jason has continued in songwriting, production, and mixing projects, mainly for artists and labels/publishers targeting synch opportunities, expanding collaborations beyond LA and London, now into Nashville, and these new ventures are exploding with excitement! In addition, after graduating last year from world-renowned engineer Streaky’s intensive course in mastering, Jason has been rapidly expanding his mastering portfolio, mastering projects for an ever-increasing number of happy clients, including Universal Music Group Sync A&R, for whom Jason both mixed and mastered several synch-oriented remixes by artists such as Joy Oladokun, Bree Runway, Jac Ross, and Poutyface; a soon-to-be launched bespoke trailer music label, for whom Jason mastered several albums; emerging composer Phill Boucher, for whom Jason both mixed and mastered the music for the Rocket League Season 5 Official Trailer, which was a collaboration between Phill, Grimes and Illangelo; the All American Rejects’ lead vocalist and bassist Tyson Ritter, for whom Soudah mastered a song; as well as mastering for other independent artists and composers.

Jason has since launched JASON SOUDAH : MASTERING, providing Mastering and Stem Mastering services in an ever-increasing number of formats, as we more widely adopt immersive audio.

ABOUT

Born in Tokyo, and of Irish/Palestinian descent, Jason’s passion for music started from a young age. At 5 he was playing piano and by 13 he was recording original songs, first programming the tracks on his keyboard then overdubbing vocals and guitars between two cassettes on a twin tape-deck!

It is this infectious determination, energy and versatility, coupled with the essential ability to turnaround projects on a tight deadline, that keeps his collaborators coming back.

:

In 2018, Jason co-founded the Songwriting Mentorship Program at University High School in Los Angeles with music teacher and composer Micah Byers, where small groups of students are coached from the inception of songs, through to recording and mastering. Jason passionately encourages music students to follow their dreams, guides and advises them in their creative endeavors in music, and is rewarded by witnessing each student’s abilities and self-confidence flourish throughout the year-long program. Jason is also a regular panelist for USC Adjunct Assistant Professor and legendary composer Christopher Young’s “Assistants Panel,” where students completing their Masters in Film Scoring get valuable insights and candid advice.

:

Jason “trailerized” the song “Falling Sky” by UK artist Kirsty Bertarelli (writer of “Black Coffee” by All Saints), which is currently available for licensing. Listen to both the original song and Jason’s trailer version on the MUSIC page.

Right now, Jason is writing music for multiple film projects, mixing and mastering records and scores, adding his vocals/vocal-soundscapes to cues for video games and film/tv, and collaborating with other songwriters and artists (as a co-writer and/or producer) on songs primarily targeted for synch. Jason also produces some of the backing tracks for KIDZ BOP, collaborating with Gary Philips, writes for commercials and other promotional films, and is a freelance composer and remixer for several record labels and production music libraries based in the US and UK.

:

Before becoming a Composer, Jason performed regularly in the UK and US as a singer/songwriter, garnering national US radio play for his debut EP “six hours”, which included “Wallowing”, #1 add on independent radio when it was released. This EP was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Kids In Glasshouses, The Blackout…). The beginnings of buzz in the US triggered radio attention in the UK, with interviews and live performances on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Wales, and Capital FM South Wales, and spurred on national press coverage. Jason went on to make an album with Sylvia Massy (RHCP, Smashing Pumpkins, Skunk Anansie…) as Producer/Engineer, and Michael C. Ross (Vanessa Carlton, Lisa Loeb, Counting Crows…) as Engineer/Mixer.

:

Jason moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and was invited to intern at Hans Zimmer’s studio complex, Remote Control Productions. Jason was promptly recruited by ascending composer Matthew Margeson (Rocketman, Kingsman: The Secret Service & The Golden Circle, Rings, Eddie The Eagle, Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children…), and they have been collaborating ever since.  In this “additional music” capacity, Jason has also worked with composers Henry Jackman, Fil Eisler, Dominic Lewis, Heitor Pereira, Jim Dooley, John Jennings Boyd, Al Clay, Tim Davies, Todd Haberman, Daniel Heath, J2 (Jay Singh), Benjamin Wallfisch, and Ryan Taubert, among others.

:

In terms of synch, Jason has had songs featured on MTV (The Real World, Teen Mom…), he wrote “A Sporting Chance” for the movie “Eddie The Eagle,” “Ladyphones” for the movie “GI-JOE: Retaliation,” and co-wrote “Handy Candy” for the movie “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” with composers Matthew Margeson and Mike Higham.
