      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Arch and too cute by half, Violet & Daisy cycles through too many bad ideas to make use of Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan's combined talents.

Matt Zoller Seitz Chicago Sun-Times A thriller that might as well have been released in 1996, when everybody and their brother and their sister and their cousin twice-removed was trying to be Quentin Tarantino ... Rated: 2/4 Jun 11, 2013 Full Review Brian Tallerico HollywoodChicago.com You can almost see the moment when the super-talented Saoirse Ronan checks out in terms of character and I think James Gandolfini gave up before the end of rehearsal. I just felt bad for Alexis Bledel. Rated: 1.5/5.0 Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Mary Houlihan Chicago Sun-Times Of course, the violence is cringe-worthy and, at times, over the top. But view this as a modern comic book/fairy tale, and it's easier to accept this saga of girls with guns and the life lessons they eventually confront. Rated: 3/4 Jun 7, 2013 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Gleefully amoral and esoteric, its destiny as a cult hit is probably already written, but otherwise it's a breath of fresh air that defies classification, despite the fact it comes at the expense of someone's last gasp. Jan 8, 2019 Full Review Pat Padua DCist Comes off like teenagers playing at Quentin Tarantino. Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk This self-consciously quirky comedy-thriller... swings unevenly between passages of soul searching and bouts of cartoony violence in the Tarantino mould. Si es de esas películas que te dejan como dos sensaciones, me gusto, pero sentí que vi algo raro Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review steve d Not the best story with this premise but effectively quirky and a lot of fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review aaron g Many makes for a cult classic, might have to rewatch after some time and decide if it holds up. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not my kind of film, but it's certainly original and quirky. We get a little background on Violet but not much on Daisy. Allegedly a couple of under-18 teens have taken on a nice PT job of assasin, but the question is why? Would have been better to build the story up and their relationship, how they met, how they became assasisns rather than just being thrown into the middle of the story. I loved the daddy / daughter connection between asassisn / target and the odd contradictions it presents. Good overall, but with more backstory, it would have been better Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review kerry w Rate: 7/10. 79/100. Saoirse Ronan's Performance: 8/10. 80/100. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Bad. Just real bad. Love Saoirse Ronan and janes Gandolfini but not a good movie overall Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/20 Full Review Read all reviews
