Young scientist Elizabeth Barnes (Tiffany Shepis) and her group of researchers are conducting illegal stem cell research, and discover a cell anomaly that has the potential to regenerate dead tissue. Unable to conduct legal human trials, the researchers turn to corpses to test their serum.

It is HorrorPack time yet again. This time I got to watch the exclusive Bluray that comes with each box. I had not heard of this movie going into it but I'm always willing to give a movie a shot, especially horror movies. The story for this movie has to do with Elizabeth Barnes, a doctor who specializes in blood cells. A very rich guy who is dying has recruited Barnes to be on his team who is looking for a way to regenerate cells and tissue. I actually watched this years ago and just remembered it - I need to see it again to see if my opinion holds but I found it to be a creepy and fairly well-done indie tale with tons of potential!
Fairly well acted and well written take on the Frankenstein story as a group of scientists perform very unorthodox experiments on dead bodies, managing to bring a dead man to life only for him to absorb knowledge like a sponge and even aquiring some odd powers.
Frankensteins syndrome's strength is that is doesn't really go anywhere that outlandish (well, apart from the bringing the dead back to life and giving the supernatural powers). It could easily have turned into a very silly splattermovie and while it still is pretty violent, it stays on it's taken course throughout. It does this fairly predictable but not what I actually expected. That sounded odd.
In short, a decent enough scifi horror that could have used a bit more production values but is accomplished enough to warrant a watch if you find the plot interesting.
Oh man this was so close to being pretty good that when it’s boring it’s so disappointing relative to its positives. I think this would genuinely work better as a miniseries with an episode for each of the 8 acts respectively
Random TV movie strikes again! Here we've got a thoroughly nonsensical medical horror with some of the worst editing and filming I've seen in quite some time. Every single scene is tinged with some random color thanks to the overuse of some cheap looking filters and many shots feature characters that have been awkwardly cut off screen.
The acting is wooden, the characters are flat, and entire personalities seem to jump from person to person. People vanish from the film for large periods of time, the climax is incredibly abrupt, minority characters get the stereotypical horror movie treatment, and pretty much everyone is an idiot.
The only particularly positive part of The Frankenstein Syndrome is that the villain is entertaining…

The Frankenstein Syndrome was filmed as Tiffany Shepis's character Elizabeth Barnes is interviewed and she explains what happened there. I got H.P. Lovecraft’s Re-Animator vibes watching it. It is a different approach to the story of Frankenstein.

There are tons of films about re-animating dead tissue but I've always wondered about the long rehabilitation after re-animation provided that the subject does not go on a murderous rampage straight away.
This film is at first about a bitchy woman doctor who gets pissed about a new doctor coming to work on a super secret project. Lots of scenes are essentially verbal cat fights. It's a fairly straight forward medical horror until the rehabilitation begins.
