Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Marek P70 contributionsDon't believe what people are saying about Skegness if it's negative, as it's not to be believed!
It's fantastic, absolutely brilliant, and so clean too.
There aren't loads of shops, but there are enough to keep you busy, with plenty of bathing to be had.
There are plenty of places to eat, all at very good prices too.
The beach too is amazingly clean, with plenty of places to get your Mr whippy ice cream, hot chocolate and donuts, and unlike some seaside towns, these too are really well priced, and tasty too.
Skegness is a really great little seaside town, and not one to he missed, and I would recommend to anyone taking a break here, to which we will 100% be going back there again.Written 24 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went out of season, so the beach train wasn't on, but have seen it operating in previous years.
It's a two minute walk from Haven's Golden Sands site, so ideally situated for their guests. Parking wise, there are plenty of large car parks up near the town on Quebec Road, around "The Beck" pub area.Written 25 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BraindamagedbaronNewark-on-Trent, UK958 contributionsOnce upon a time there was a beach in Lincolnshire.
It was a beautiful beach.
It was so beautiful the RAF bombed it to oblivion in training exercises.
Then, in Winter, EVERY Winter the grey seals arrived in huge numbers, vast amounts.
And still they come to this day, just as they have for generations. They come to breed, to give birth and to raise their young on the Lincolnshire beach.
Thousands of them, seals everywhere, big, little, pups, parents, the beach is a mass of grey seals joy.
EVERY year and it's a stunning sight, wonderful. One for all the family. The parking isn't great, the ground is treacherous, but ultimately a very rewarding trip.Written 31 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not all the house is open on all days, dependent upon staffing. Because it’s a small house, entrance numbers are limited by time slot and it seems to rely on volunteers passing on information rather than information cards although there are folders detailing individual items in each room. The walled gardens and orchard were the highlight for me, beautifully maintained and presented. There is also a small art gallery in the orchard plus the usual NT café, shop and second hand books. There’s a lovely outdoor seating area for the café. Highly recommended.Written 26 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CLHNorwich, UK44 contributions2 adults and a 14 year old and we really enjoyed this museum. Lots of interesting artefacts and presented beautifully. This museum is free entry after all, so not sure what some of the negative reviewers were hoping for - we found it to be excellent. There were lots of happy little children enjoying the activities. We spent a good 2 hours there including a reasonably priced soup, sausage roll and baguette lunch. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful- just what you need! Toilets were spotless. There was a Jason Wilsher-Mills exhibition which was great fun. Well stocked gift shop and a play area for the littluns'. A great visit and a lovely, modern building, a short walk from the castle and cathedral.Written 9 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - david s19 contributionsSuperb castle in the Lincolnshire countryside. Many similarities to Blenheim and Holkham in the scale of the buildings, grounds and architecture. Extensive beautiful gardens. Wonderful topiary hedges and long walks around the grounds, including a large lake with much wildlife and fabulous views back to the castle on the hill. Beautifully maintained, both inside and out. It is a treasure-trove of paintings and furniture.
The staff are engaging and full of interesting facts, and the collection of Royal thrones are a must-see. We chose a Sunday as its free-flow that day, but garnered more than enough information as we went round. Well worth a visit.Written 22 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our Grandsons had a great time exploring & finding hidden features. They loved finding the hidden moles & marking them off in the booklet, going under tunnels & walking along rope bridges. The garden of surprise was interactive & really held their interest. Fascinating sculptures led to many concealed areas that they loved exploring. We ate a lovely meal in the orangery before heading home. Definitely plan to return as we didn’t see it all. A great family day out.Written 10 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert S5 contributionsWonderful stay at this hidden treasure. The room was superbly equipped, spotlessly clean and fabulous value for money. A lovely little welcome pack was also included, thank you.
Having the beautiful gardens to yourself once the day visitors have gone home and again before they arrive the following morning really is the icing on the cake.
We hope to be back sooner rather than later.Written 27 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Staff were friendly and the horses seemed well looked after and relaxed. - TracytiggsLincolnshire, UK21 contributionsGood place for toddlers to have a great day of play, whether indoors or out. Our Grandaughter had a great time running around she was asleep by the time she was strapped into her car seat.
My only gripe is how expensive it is for a family. If it was a tad cheaper we could go more often.Written 26 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We are not bird watchers at all, although it seemed most other visitors were, with their binoculars and telescopic lenses. It was quite nice to see their passion for nature and witness the thrill they got out of a “rare” sighting.
No dogs on site, that’s a bonus for us!
We walked around some of the many pathways, amazed at all the birds, on the water and in the air. You don’t have your be a “twitcher” to appreciate this!
Give it a go, a lovely few hours in open marshland to walk in, drinks and snacks etc ( and toilets) available at the visitor centre.
Staff at the centre were very helpful on our arrival giving advice etc.
Definitely better than we expected!

If you timed it right you could also stroke the guinea pigs and rabbits, feed the lambs and hold a chick. All the animals looked in good condition and well looked after. Went on Mother's Day weekend and Mums were given a free plant which was a nice touch. Great place for children to get close to farm animals in a safe environment.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
