About TU Dublin


Introduction

TU Dublin, the first Technological University in Ireland, was formally established on January 1st 2019, under the Technological Universities Act 2018, building on the distinguished past of Institute of Technology Blanchardstown, Dublin Institute of Technology and Institute of Technology Tallaght. With a history stretching back over one hundred and thirty years, TU Dublin is a leader in STEM disciplines; it also supports the largest cohorts of students in business, media, culinary arts, and the creative and performing arts. TU Dublin has five Faculties: Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, Faculty of Business, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Digital & Data.

  • Academic Partnerships: In the five years up to 2020, TU Dublin scholars worked with 1,000 institutions worldwide
  • Industry Partnerships: TU Dublin has signed nearly 800 collaboration agreements with more than 600 partners for specific projects
  • Community Partnerships: over 1,000 students each year work with more than 100 community organisations

Open Research

  • The Open Research Agenda is Ireland’s public policy objective to transition to an Open Science ecosystem. TU Dublin is leading the way on this, particularly through Arrow, the University’s publicly accessible research repository.
  • 400% increase has made in research award values in the past five years
  • TU Dublin scholars had 20k+ citations in the last five years

Technology Transfer

  • TU Dublin current provides over 7,000m2 of incubation and scaleup space
  • Annually, 200 entrepreneurs engage in one of the University’s enterprise programmes and over 100 companies are facilitated in the incubators
