I agree to all the ones with over charging for carry on lagged, I flew on the 23rd of this month, I couldn't check-in on their website and neither on their app, app wouldn't open up at all, when I showed up to lax airport, I showed them that their app won't open up and denied or honor me the discounted fee, end up paying the 120 dollars, while I was there, I called customer service and also denied the discount, said that I had to put a claim through their website, I am a manager and that's not how you tread customer 😉 never fly through this airline anymore in my life and will not recommend to anyone use this cheap airline, on top of that, when came back, couldn't check-in again and guess what, I waited in line to talk the front desk so they can tell me that because I had a basic fair, I needed to go back and check-in myself on the machine by the entrance, if I wanted them to do it, they would charge me $12 for that service because of my basic fair ticket. Horrible experience 😪…

Beware, Avianca will randomly change your flight without you agreeing to it. I booked a flight for May 12 and they did not notify me that it had changed to the 11th. I did not receive an email a phone call, nothing. It wasn't until the 11th when I I was having issues with the check in (for my flight which was supposed to be the 12th) and saw it had the wrong date on it, surely it must be a mistake since I was never notified. So I spoke to an Avianca representative at the airport (cause that morning I was flying out from Medellin to Cartagena) and they confirmed that my flight was indeed leaving the 11th (that same day). While at the airport, I called for assistance and the first representative was very helpful she immediately tried to find a new flight for me and calmed me that this would be resolved with ease since I told her I had purchased the flight insurance (during this call I learned of the many flight times that were available for the next day, so switching me to a new flight could have been seamless). Unfortunately I was mid travel and boarding a different flight at this moment that the phone call was cut off. I called again once I arrived at my hotel and the next representative was a so unhelpful. He was rude in his tone and did not have a sense of urgency at all, when I am supposed to be flying out the next morning. After being on the phone for almost 1 hour he said they will open up an investigation and call be back before the end of day with a resolution. They never called me back, I slept with anxiety of being stuck at a country with no accommodation, losing money on the already booked accommodation in Santiago and not getting refunded for the flight even with the flight insurance. This situation full of uncertainty ruined my last night of my trip in Colombia. I woke up early the next day to call Avianca and demand that they resolve this issues and NOT HANG UP AGAIN since they kept saying “we will look into it and get back to you.” I had already had 2 phone calls, both 1 hour long where we reached no resolution. I was adamant they resolve this issue and at this point I was desperate to get on a flight, I had already paid an extra night at the hotel (money lost) and lost my original flight, the Avianca rep said they would not be able to refund me or give me credits and I had to repurchase another $300 flight to Santiago. If I learned any lesson here is to fly LATAM in South America. The customer service with Avianca was trash and the experience was so upsetting.…

I bought a ticket via Expedia to Cali return. I thought that I had a carry on included in the ticket price, but this was not the case. I encountered the most awful agent when I checked in on Friday 24th May who was delighted to let me know that the carry-on cost was $120 since I failed to pay the $45 in advance. I reluctantly paid and thought that I could have avoided the return cost of $120 by paying in advance. Well, there was no option to pay this magical $45 so I was fleeced another $120 for a carry-on. I was aware of the checked luggage cost being $120 but I am still dazzled as to how an airline could justify charging $120 for a carry-on. I have put this down to experience and I would never set foot again on this airline even if it meant saving my life. Any airline that cannot serve complimentary water, coffee and tea should be avoided at all cost. A bottle of water cost me $3.50. The rate at which this airline is sinking I will not be surprised if there is a credit card processor attached to the bathroom door very soon, with additional payment for toilet paper and soap!!! This airline must be avoided at all cost. It is simply the worst airline that I have ever travelled on. Never, never again.…

Terrible! We could not check in online or check our bags until we arrived at the airport and even though we paid an extra 400. USD to upgrade to a premium seat we were charged an additional 320 usd for this leg of our journey, then another 120 usd for the second part ! Seats were very uncomfortable, no reclining seats and no tv or wireless. Would NEVER fly this airline again!…
