A meticulously maintained property in the heart of Williamsburg. Gorgeous rooms and bathrooms, helpful and friendly staff, and thoughtful upscale amenities. The hotel restaurant, The Terrace Room, serves delicious cuisine in a quiet, romantic ambience. All this, and they accept dogs! We will recommend this hotel to our family and friends and hope to stay there again when we visit Virginia.

My wife, son, and I just spent a birthday weekend (for my son) at the Williamsburg Inn, and it is indeed a wonderful hotel befitting the location of Colonial Williamsburg. We stayed in a Junior Suite (with a separate living room) which captures the ambiance of colonial times. A really nice room!

When we returned to our room in the evening, we were pleasantly surprised with the turndown service - sofa had already been converted to a bed (with chocolates on top of pillow) for our son, and the king bed had a tray with a small bottle of Amaretto Liqueur (Disaronno), two glasses, and chocolates! A very nice and classy touch! Also, hotel staff had set-aside a large bottle of still water and a bucket filled with ice for us to use.....I guess hotel staff noticed a near-empty bottle of red wine that my wife and I had consumed earlier before going out to dinner. I’m sure staff wanted us to be ....hydrated! Thank you! 😊

The Inn is also conveniently located in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg and really close to all the sights/establishments along Duke of Gloucester Street. We would definitely consider staying at the Williamsburg Inn next time we are in town!

Cancelling 3 trips due to the pandemic this year was a real bummer. This included a canceled trip for our 20 year anniversary. So when we decided to do a quick 2 night getaway somewhere close, I immediately thought of Williamsburg. I researched and read reviews of so many hotels/resorts and then rested on the Williamsburg Inn. I was just a tiny bit skeptical due to the few bad reviews, but the good outweighed the bad and we gave it a go. From the minute we pulled up, we were greeted and treated like royalty. Immediately.. It was an easy check-in and every single person we came across in the hotel was extremely nice and ready to answer any questions we had. I must admit, it is a little pricey, BUT we went with the romance package that included champagne, strawberries, breakfast each morning in their wonderful restaurant, a horse carriage ride and access to their exhibits and museums. We even added in 2 relaxing massages. It was worth every penny! Our room/bathroom was BEAUTIFUL and huge. The only inking of an issue we had was a delay of the champagne and strawberries. I had to ask for it 3 times. I quickly got over it (even though it was not chocolate dipped as the package stated). Would I stay there again? HECK YES! My only regret is not staying longer. It was the most relaxing 2 days all year. Loved the concierge attendants that greeted us as we pulled up, escorted us to the check in desk, carried our bags to our room as we were checking in and made sure we had ice in our room; loved the friendly, energetic, smiling front desk attendants that checked us in and told us all about the hotel and answered all of our questions, from check in to check out; loved the restaurant staff who were beyond friendly and helpful each morning and loved our housekeeping attendant. Loved it all! Pay no attention to those negative comments. Take it from someone who was skeptical initially. Don't be! We just left today and it is all that and more.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful room, comfortable accommodations. But.

Room service entered room without knocking first (knocked while door was already being opened instead) while we were not dressed.

Website advertised free breakfast with a two night stay, so we arranged breakfast with the desk during check-in. Was not advised at that time that breakfast was not actually included as advertised; was shocked to see additional $60 charge ($60! for tiny breakfast items for two people) on bill at checkout.

Raised concerns with housekeeping and billing at checkout with desk, who advised that concerns would be passed along to manager - I never subsequently heard from manager.

For the cost, we hoped for a perfect anniversary weekend getaway. Sad to say it didn't turn out that way.

Forbes 5 star my butt. More like 1 star.
Our check in experience was awful. Arrived about 12:30, our room wasn’t ready so I asked if another was available, the old guy at check in kept asking (10 times minimum) if I would take “any room” in the hotel. I thought this was odd and said no, but any equivalent room in the main building would be ok. I got the “sold out, 4 weddings, check in time is 4 pm, etc” excuses. Ok. So we went to the golf course restaurant to have lunch and wait. At that lunch I was served chicken that was so under-cooked it was red inside, and along with the pulled pork there was a 5 ounce glob of 100% solid fat, about the size of 3 golf balls. It was disgusting.
Back to retry check in and the same old guy kept repeating “would I take any available room?” No. He said he would get a manager. She arrived about 10 minutes later and explained that the person in the room had checked out late (1:30) and the room was being cleaned and she suggested it was probably best to wait until it was ready because it was away from the maddening crowd of peoples at the weddings. At least now I got an explanation. We finally got in about 3:30. I feel that the old guy was trying to hustle me out of the expensive room into a less desirable room, but at the expensive room price; which, if correct was dishonest.
Ok, bad lunch and bad check in. Not a good start.
On this trip we and 4 lunches and 4 dinners, 2 and 2 at your hotel. Of the 8 dining experiences, the 4 at your hotel were the worst 4 of the 8. It was because of routinely slow service (4 weddings?). At the brunch, service was very slow, but when we tried to pay the bill your machines wouldn’t accept credit card payments. We finally just charged to our rooms but it took 20 minutes and 4 questions of various people before we were told what was going on.
I could go on but, I’ve already wasted enough time. Our experience was a terrible experience at your hotel.

I stayed at the Williamsburg Inn in August 2022. My mother and two elementary-aged children stayed in a Junior Suite for 4 nights. It was our first time staying here, and we absolutely loved it.

Our suite was very clean. It was beautifully furnished. The bathroom was large with a nice marble shower, double sinks and a nice clean soaker tub. There were multiple highlights of the hotel in addition to the lovely room:

(1) The service. Everyone from the housekeepers, to the concierge, to the bellmen were extremely courteous, helpful and efficient. My mother is elderly and had trouble walking to some of the sites, and the bellmen would drive us to and from our destinations near the grounds. The concierges assisted with purchasing event tickets and made everything so easy. The staff made our stay absolutely wonderful.

(2) The pools. The hotel shares a pool complex with two other "sister" hotels that are easily accessible. One pool is "quiet" and intended for adults. The main pool we used was a nice sized saltwater pool perfect for families. There was also an indoor pool with a large jacuzzi that my kids also enjoyed. It was great to get back from a long day of sightseeing in Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens and spend some time unwinding at the pool.

(3) The location. The location is right near Colonial Williamsburg and it is so easy to go for a walk around the town and access attractions.

(4) Turndown service. Each night, housekeeping came to turndown our room. This included setting up the sofabed my children were sleeping on with their stuffed animals, as well as turndown for the king bed with our slippers on either side and a complimentary bottle of either Baileys or amaretto and two chocolates. It was such a special touch.

I have stayed in 5-star hotels in Rome, Paris, Vegas, Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, Philadelphia and D.C. The Williamsburg Inn, however, beats them all with the exceptional service.

Wow what a fabulous hotel this is. A real colonial feel to it with logs burning in the fire, comfortable surroundings, beautiful garden areas and delicious food. I did change rooms as the first room I had was over the kitchen and the extractor was very noisy. The bar is lovely and well stocked and the restaurants excellent. There’s complimentary tea and coffee in the lounge area all day. A lovely touch is a miniature of the liqueur amaretti with chocolates as part of the turn down service. I loved this hotel and I loved Williamsburg. Do visit!

This is the second time my family has stayed @ the Williamsburg Inn, and this visit was the cherry on top of an exceptional visit. The bellman and front desk team were genuinely warm and kind upon check-in, making us feel at home while paying attention to several small details to ensure we had the right room for our family (parents traveling with teens :)! We ate outside each evening sitting outside on the patio under the night sky and lightning bugs flickering over the golf course. It was charming! The food was outstanding, and the service was attentive and genuinely kind. From a location perspective, we enjoyed late night strolls after dinner around the Colonial Williamsburg, long after the crowds went home! Lastly, the location is perfect for a visit to the neighboring College of William and Mary, while staying outside of the majority of the summer tourism crowds. Spectacular visit all around!

It’s a great place but in 2021 they have many restaurants closed making dinner a big problem. You can reserve well in advance but that doesn’t help if restaurants are closed. For the price you pay they need to plan much better to accommodate well paying guests.

This hotel is not worth the price during COVID. This is supposedly a 5 star hotel, which certainly charges 5 star prices, but it does not offer much in return. The majority of the hotel’s amenities are not available including room service, turn down service, full room cleaning, and restaurants both at the hotel and in colonial Williamsburg.

There is only one place to get lunch at the hotel, the golf course club house, which serves food on par with a fast food restaurants on paper plates, with poor service.

Whatever cleaning protocol they are using to celan the rooms leaves an overpowering cleaning agent odor that you can’t get out because there is no fan in the room.

The hotel staff seemed overworked, stressed out, and not very pleasant or
Accommodating.

Wait until they are back up and running before paying to stay at this hotel.

There are two outdoor pools - both are large. One has a fun shape and various entry depths and is designed for families with young kids. The other is a typical 8 ft deep pool that is designated a "quiet pool", but there were teens and some young kids in it, including my 10 yo with his snorkel/ mask, and flippers. Mind you we were there midweek, so it was not crowded. Yes, there are tables, as well as bar and food service out by the pool, but check right before you go, because these the bar was not open due to short staffing. Places in Colonial Williamsburg have trouble staffing post-Covid, so many of the CW exhibits were closed. Can you bring food in? I don't know - didn't try. The atmosphere was very customer friendly. As I said in my review, there is no service like Williamsburg Inn service, so I doubt anyone would bother you about a cooler bag or backpack. Not sure I would carry in a McDonald's bag. :) I know you cannot bring alcoholic beverages in glasses from the [other bars]. But no one questions what's in a plastic cup. ;) Hope this helps. Enjoy!!
