I'm a KitchenAid guy, but I've heard nothing but good things about Cuisinart's stand mixers. Any reason they're left off?
Nope, no particular reason besides neglect. :P
I'll add it now.
I think a baking stone should be the first thing on the list. There is no substitute.
I've had conflicting thoughts on the baking stone. If we're speaking of bare essentials, a heavy or thick sheet pan may suffice. Depending on what you're baking, it may not produce the best results but it may turn out a mediocre to fair bread loaf.
As I see it, items on the "optional" list either eases the bread making/baking process or increases the quality of the finished loaf, whereas the "essentials" are items absolutely needed to bake bread albeit not an excellent one.
If you have any further thoughts on this, you're more than welcomed to share. :)
totally agree. I cook without a stone on sheet pans and while i dont get an amazing crust, I do get a better loaf then what is on offer at the supermarkets, which is all I am after at this stage
I'm new to bread baking. I don't have a stand mixer. Can you just use a dough tool? I tried making bread over Christmas . I used an oiled Dutch oven , but it stuck so bad. I threw it out. Should I have added parchment paper?
