Frank Charles Smith

BACLIFF - Frank Charles Smith, 62, of Bacliff, Texas, died November 27, 2023, with loved ones by his bedside.

Frank was born March 7, 1961, in Houston, Texas to John Haviland and Rosemary Ann Smith. He attended Sante Fe High School, graduating in 1979. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, having served with distinction as a member of the 82nd Airborne and Army Signal Corps. During his service, Frank received multiple good conduct and Army achievement medals. In civilian life, Frank worked as a Process Technician and Supervisor for Sterling Chemical and Praxair/Linde. He had just retired in January of 2023. During his employment, Frank became a Certified Industrial Firefighter, EMT, and Hazmat Specialist after completing extensive training at the famed Texas A&M Fire School in College Station. He served both as a captain and firefighting instructor for Praxair/Linde.

Frank is preceded in death by his father, John Haviland Smith and mother, Rosemary Ann Smith.

Frank is survived by a large family of brothers and sisters, Larry (Joanne), Sharon (Rodney), Debbie, David (Cindy), John (Lori), Charles (Laurie), Paul, Stephen, and Timothy.

Frank's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of one’s existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Frank understood the importance of friends, family, and faith. His smile, gentleness, and generosity brought so much joy to many, and we will miss him dearly. Frank was a devoted member of Calvary Crossroad Church in Santa Fe, Texas.
