How to use Office365 outlook with different email address?

I have office 365 for business, but I don't use the business email account as it did not exist before. But as soon as I sign in with my regular email address it deactivates Office since that Microsoft account does not have 365.

So how can I activate outlook with 365, but sign in with my real email and only my real email.

Thank you.

Michael Elkin

Hi Michael,
Where you you signing in? Does the other email address have a microsoft account?

Are you trying to use it to check email? (That should work fine.)

Diane, maybe you can help me too. I just got a new Mac and have to download and install MS Office 365, but I don't know what account I used to download them on my old Mac. Is there a way for me to figure out, so I can use the same account? I know it has several user licenses left, so I don't want to create a new account.

The other email does have a Microsoft account but without Office. The business login with is not seen as a Microsoft account if I try to log into the community. But I need to sign into office with that account first. And that gives me the useless account.

I need to activate office, but not have it create the login and then somehow add the proper email account. All of this seems completely broken with 365.

And yes I am trying to use it for email but I need email only for my proper account and the business email to be gone.

Thank you.

Also, you have an account for Office license and separate Microsoft account. I cannot do that. For me is all or none. Once I sign into the license office if I sign out I loose everything.

If I could sing into the license only and then sign in into my mail in Outlook only it would be great.

Try this - sign in to activate it then click Switch account on the left (under the user name) and sign into the microsoft account. Does that work?

Also the account under user account shouldn't matter - add the onedrive account as a connected account to save to it from office.

I did do that but it did not work.  I was able to sign in and I could see the Microsoft account and my 365 accounts exactly as in your picture. However it did absolutely nothing in the end because the outlook inbox still remained with the 365 account and no inbox for the MS account. Further more, if I restart Outlook it asks me for my orginal login which then overrides the MS account and goes to where we started.

Also, if another user with 365 logs in than it successfully logs into all of Office (which I really don't want) and Outlook and works great with the proper mail inbox but only with a 365 user.

I just noticed that after restart and when I re-entered the password for the original 365 account all other office apps like excel and word are logged into the MS account, (which is again absolutely not what I want as it messes everything up) but Outlook is still stuck with the original inbox and it seems I have no way to change it.

More updates, under file I did find an option to add an account, which I assume will be Hotmail, but at the same time I cannot remove the 365 email from Outlook.

Even more, it seems I cannot remove the 365 at all now. When I was asked to log into my account before I said save credentials, so as a result now every time, even after I sign our it logs me back into 365. This is a disaster and I am done for today.

This is the email address, not logging in the software?

this will probably be easiest to fix if you make a new profile. You can do this using the /manageprofiles switch.

To use the /manageprofiles switch, right-click on the Start button and choose Run or press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
Type or paste the following into the Open field and press Enter or click OK to restart Outlook. (There is a space before /.)
outlook.exe /manageprofiles

Click Profiles to delete the old profile and create a new profile or Email accounts to view or edit your account if you only have one profile.
