Commanders Rookie TE Ben Sinnott Praises 'Natural Leader' Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders put their rookies through their paces at minicamp, and tight end Ben Sinnott has glowing words for quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The Washington Commanders have had a good offseason, picking up a host of free agents and complementing those with good draft selections.

Of course, Jayden Daniels is the centerpiece of Washington's offseason, but other draft picks are being considered good bets. One such player is Kansas State's Ben Sinnott, whom Washington took in the third round of the draft.

As rookie minicamp concludes, Sinnott, who got to work with Daniels, has come away with an overriding feeling when it comes to his new quarterback.

“I think just the ball placement, the arm talent he has, he's got the ability to make every throw,” Sinnott said. “You see it all over the film too, he can run, extend plays, create explosives with his legs, throw it 80 yards downfield, and create a huge play in the pass game. He's got all the intangibles, and he's a natural leader and a guy who brings guys brings his teammates together. I'm just very impressed with who he is and what kind of player he is.”

Sinnott

Sinnott, like Daniels, will be tasked with helping the Commanders' offense click into gear after a poor 2023 season that saw the franchise post a 4-13 record.

Able to line up anywhere across the line of scrimmage, Sinnott has the speed to get downfield in a hurry and has the ability to haul in his targets (13.9 yards per reception in college career), which we imagine offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will be keen to explore.

With running backs Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler, Sinnott's skills as a pass block will also be called upon, but he will be seen as more of a pass-catching option for Daniels.

Already with two veteran tight ends on the roster, Zach Ertz and Logan Thomas, Sinnott might have to bide his time before he sees the field in 2024.

But with his skill set, we think it won't be long before he joins the "natural leader" in Daniels on the field as a Commander.
