In-Depth Guide to Moomoo.io

An In-depth Guide to Moomoo.io:

Hi there Reddit, my name is Rik. You may see me in-game in the Miami servers as “Ranger Rik”. I’ve played Moomoo.io for a few days now and while this game is still growing and developing, I thought it was really fun and figured I would write a guide for this game!

Objective:

While there is no true goal to the game, there is a leaderboard indicated by the total amount of gold you currently have. Note that buying hats will lower your gold and drop your rank in the leaderboard.

Resources:

Resources are the heart and soul of Moomoo.io. By gathering resources, you are able to build structures, eat food to heal your hitpoints, and fire projectiles from your bow. Upon death, you will lose all of your resources and gold. There is no known limit to the amount of resources you can require.

There are four types of resources in the game:

Wood: Represented by a tree, wood can be gathered by swinging your weapon towards it. Trees are the most common resource.

Food: Represented by a cherry bush/apple tree. In my opinion this is the most important resource as extended fights will deplete your food reserves rather quickly.

Rock: Represented by a large grey boulder. Rocks are used to create structures that are generally harder to destroy than wood structures.

Gold: Represented by a gold-colored boulder. These are the least abundant. The more gold you acquire, the higher your score will be on the leaderboard. The only thing you can use gold for currently are hats.

Age:

Age, or your “level”, will be gained by gathering resources or killing other players. Upon aging, you will be granted the ability to build a new structure or use a new weapon. The max age is currently 15, although you will only get rewards for the first six levels.

Age level rewards:

Age 1:

Tool Hammer: Grants 1 resource when farming. Deals 20 damage per hit. Your default weapon.

Apple: Your basic food item. Heals 10 HP. Costs 10 food per consumption.

Wood Wall: A wooden hexagon that can be used as a structure. Costs 20 wood. 25 max units.

Spike: A unit that damages an enemy player when touched. Costs 20 wood and 5 stone. 15 max units.

Windmill: A structure that generates 1 gold per second. Costs 50 wood and 10 stone. 6 max units.

Age 2:

Greater axe: Grants two resources when farming. Also deals 30 damage per hit.

OR

Short sword: Currently the strongest melee weapon in the game. Deals 40 damage per hit. Will slow down your movement speed when equipped.

Age 3:

Cookie: A food item that heals 40 HP when consumed. Costs 15 food. Currently the best food in game.

OR

Stone Wall: An upgrade from the wood wall, making it a bit more durable. Costs 25 stone. 25 max units.

Age 4:

Pit Trap: A hidden structure that triggers upon an enemy player stepping on it. When triggered, the enemy will be stuck in place until the unit is destroyed or the player is killed. If the player is killed, the pit trap will remain there. Costs 30 wood and 30 stone. Max 6 units.

OR

Boost Pad: A square pad that will boost any player in the direction it is facing. Costs 5 wood and 30 stone. Max 15 units.

Age 5:

Greater Spike: An upgrade from the normal spike that will deal even more damage to a player upon touching it. Costs 30 wood and 10 stone. Max 15 units.

OR

Better Windmill: An upgrade from the windmill that will generate 1.5 gold per tick. Costs 60 wood and 20 stone. Max 6 units.

OR

Stone Mine: A stone where you can place anywhere that will allow you to mine rocks. Costs 20 wood and 100 stone.

Age 6:

Hunting Bow: The only current ranged weapon in the game. Costs 2 wood per arrow. Deals ~30 damage per hit.

OR

Great Hammer: An upgrade from the hammer. This still gains 2 resources per hit but will destroy structures faster. Deals 30 damage per hit.

OR

Shield: Will deflect any arrows and reduce any melee damage taken.

Those are the only current upgrades that you can get in the game. The skill order you take is relatively important for the route you want to go.

Combat:

In Moomoo.io you will encounter other players and it is up to you to determine whether or not they are a threat. By swinging your weapon and contacting another player, you will deal damage to them based on what weapon/hat you are wielding and what equipment they’re wearing. When you hit a player they will be knocked back a short distance so it is advantageous to knock them into spikes or known pits.

Every player has 100 hit points by default and this currently cannot be increased. When your hitpoints reach 0, you will die and lose all of your resources. The player who dealt the killing blow will gain a portion of your gold. Equipping apples or cookies and clicking will consume it which will then heal 10 or 40 hit points. There is no delay on eating food but there is a delay on attacking.

All melee weapons, except for the short sword (which is slower), have the same attack speed, albeit different damage.

The Hunting Bow is the only current ranged weapon in the game and the only weapon that has a cost requirement to use.

Structures:

Structures allow you to build an item that will remain on the server until it is either destroyed or you log out. When destroying a structure you will receive the resources required to build it back. The only structure that cannot be destroyed is the Stone Mine. There is a limit to a number of units you can build which is indicated by hovering over the unit and listed as */(max units allowed).

Tribes:

Tribes are a feature in Moomoo.io that allow you to team up with your friends or people that you want to coordinate with. Simply click on the top right icon next to the leaderboard and you will see a list of all the current tribes on the server. On the bottom you can type in a six character handle and this tag will appear before the player’s name in brackets. When you join a tribe you will see all of the other tribe members on the server on the mini-map indicated by dots. When in a tribe you will not receive damage from other tribe members and their health will be indicated by a green bar. Tribe members can still destroy other member’s units. To leave a tribe, simply click on the tribe icon and click leave.

Hats:

Hats are equippable items that can be purchased with gold. You can access hats by clicking the left icon on the top right, next to tribe the icon. While some purely cosmetic, there are others that will give you a special attribute. Upon purchasing the hat your gold will decrease and this will affect your score on the leaderboard. When you die you will keep all hats purchased so it is advised to buy hats with special abilities so they are kept upon death and you can use them again.

Hat name: cost (no effect unless indicated)

Bummle Hat: 100 gold

Straw Hat: 500 gold

Winter Cap: 1000 gold - Allows you to move at normal speed in snow

Cowboy Hat: 1000 gold

Ranger Hat: 2000 gold

Explorer Hat: 2000 gold

Marksman Cap: 3000 gold - Increases arrow speed and range

Bush Gear: 3000 gold - Allows you to disguise yourself as a bush

Soldier Helmet: 5000 gold - Reduces damage taken but slows movement

Honeycrisp Hat: 5000 gold - Slowly regenerates health over time

Miners Helmet: 5000 gold

Booster Hat: 6000 - Increases your movement speed

Spike Gear: 10000 gold - Deals damage to players that damage you

Bushido Armor: 15000 gold - Restores health when you deal damage

Samurai Armor: 15000 gold - Increased attack speed and fire rate

Tips and tricks:

Now that we got all of the boring stuff done with, let’s get started on how to take over your respective servers! When starting out, you’re at your weakest point. You want to build a foundation to be able to survive as long as you can. I would recommend trying to find a double resource. This would be two objects in close proximity whether they be a tree/rock, rock/food, food/food, etc. You can then efficiently farm resources by gathering two with one click. This will also reflect in your age as well as you will gain resources and experience faster. I personally like the tree/food combo as you’ll have survivability and ammo for when you eventually unlock the Hunting Bow.

Upon leveling up you will have different choices of what weapons and what structures you want to build. If you just want to farm resources I would go with the great axe at age 2. However if you want a stronger weapon to defend yourself from any pillagers I would go with the short sword for protection. When hitting age 3 I would choose the cookie as it heals 40 health for only 15 food compared to 10 health for 10 food from the apple. With age 4 I personally like the pit trap because they’re hidden and annoying when you get stuck in them. Age 5 I like the windmill to generate more gold. The stone mine is also a good choice as you can place one between a tree/food resource and gather all three resource types with one swing. Upon hitting age 6 and your last skill, I generally default to the bow since it is the only ranged weapon in the game but I do like using the hammer as well since it destroys buildings faster and it’s nice if I feel like causing havoc.

Once you farm about 200-300 of each resource you are ready to start building a base. I would put structures around a small area of close resources that you can easily defend your base in case pillagers come to destroy your base. If you are the building type, I would also recommend creating and joining a tribe for protection. If you are the killing type I would generally go for a short sword/cookie build since you will be dealing and taking a lot of damage from other players.

As far as combat goes, when engaging with another player, I would recommend using your terrain to your advantage. You can use natural resources and structures to block arrows from enemies. Move speed is also a key factor. A person with an axe or hammer will move faster than someone equipped with a short sword. Players with short swords are also known to build boosts right in front of them to catch up to faster players. The booster hat is also a great item to equip as this will allow you to either run away or catch up to a player not using this hat.

And that’s pretty much it. If there are any questions feel free to ask. Any criticism/recommendations on the guide are also welcomed as well. I’m typing this at work which won’t let me connect to the Moomoo.io server but I look forward to destroying all of your bases in the near future.

When destroying a structure you will receive of portion of the resources required to build it back.

I always get all the resource tho.

Oh I thought you only got a percentage of the resources back, but I'll figure it out when I get home and confirm it. It would make sense to destroy structures instead of farming then, right?

u/asdf_TacoMaster avatar

well, breaking structures wont increase your age bar.

One thing: Short sword deal 35 (not 40) damage and one of fastest (not slow) atk speed.

Are there any other games like moomoo but with more ages and shit

u/DiskoBonez avatar

Thankyou! There's not really much of a wiki for this game and this is the only thread I've seen mention the upgrade path. Thanks for the hat info! Definitely gonna take advantage of snow hat in the snow! Is there a more recent guide?

u/LaserStallion avatar

er

There was originally a wiki but someone fucked it up.
