Yovanne DuBois is the daughter of actress, singer, and dancer Ja’net Dubois who died unexpectedly at age 74. Yovanne had siblings and her siblings are Rani Gupta, Raj Kristo Gupta, and Burghardt Dubois. Her sibling, Rani Gupta had a brief career in the entertainment industry.

Rani Gupta was an actress in the mid-70s. She appeared in a few episodes of “Good Times” alongside her mother. She played minor roles in “What’s Happening!!” as well. Her sibling, Raj Kristo Gupta died of cancer in 1987 after dealing with it for three years. He died at the age of 36 years.

Yovanne DuBois’ father is called Sajit Gupta. Her parents Sajit Gupta and Ja’net Dubois got married in the year 1950. Their wedding was a private wedding attended by close relatives and friends. According to sources, they did two sorts of marriages because Sajit is an Indian-American.

According to her Brazilian consulate record, the pair separated in April 1959, although another source indicates he was still in the relationship in 1964. Yovanne DuBois’ mother Ja’net Dubois had a relationship with actor Brock Peters.

Brock Peters is an American actor and singer, who began a career in show business at a young age. He is best known for the 1959 film version of Porgy and Bess, and the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird. Yovanne DuBois’ grandparents from her mother’s side are Lillian Gouedy (1910–1984) and Gordon Adelbert Dubois (1915–1960).

Yovanne DuBois’ mother is Ja’Net DuBois. Ja’Net DuBois was born on August 5, 1932, but her birth year is not certain. Her real name is Jeannette Theresa Dubois. Where she comes from is also not certain as some sources say Brooklyn borough of New York City others say Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Ja’Net DuBois grew up in Amityville, New York on Long Island. She started her acting career in the early 1960s. She was acting onstage. She made her Broadway debut with a minor role in the short-lived play The Long Dream, which ran for four days in February 1960. She appeared in the drama A Raisin in the Sun with Louis Gossett Jr., though not the original Broadway production.

Ja’Net DuBois was in the play The Blacks in October 1963. She was also an understudy for the housekeeper role, portrayed by Gertrude Jeannette, in the comedy Nobody Loves an Albatross, which ran through June 1964. She was in the Broadway musical Golden Boy with Sammy Davis Jr., Billy Daniels, Lola Falana, and Johnny Brown.

Ja’Net DuBois’ early acting credits include the 1969 television movie J.T. and the long-running television soap opera Love of Life. She appeared in former Good Times co-star Janet Jackson’s 1987 “Control” music video as her mother. She co-starred with Clifton Davis in And I Still Rise, a play written and directed by Maya Angelou.

Ja’Net DuBois has also co-starred in the films I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003), and on television in Moesha, The Steve Harvey Show, A Different World, Touched by an Angel, and The Wayans Bros. She operated the Ja’net DuBois Academy of Theater Arts and Sciences, a performing arts school for teenagers in Long Island, New York.

Unfortunately, Yovanne Dubois’ mother, Ja’Net DuBois is no longer alive. She passed away on February 17, 2020, of cardiac arrest at her residence in Glendale, California. Her age at the time of her death is uncertain.
