Tushar Deshpande

Career

The 28-year-old fast bowler of Mumbai Tushar Deshpande started his domestic career by making his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai in 2016, following which he made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2018 and for India Blue in the Duleep Trophy in 2019. Participated in the competition since.

Tushar made his IPL debut for Delhi in 2020 and was signed by Chennai Super Kings in 2022.

Domestic Career

Hailing from Mumbai, the young pacer Tushar Deshpande came onto the radar of Mumbai selectors with 21 wickets in just four games in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Soon, he made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy. He made his List A debut in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. His fifer against Bihar helped Mumbai make the semi-finals. He took 2/30 in the final as Mumbai were crowned champions. The right-arm pacer took 51 wickets from 22 games across formats in the 2018-19 domestic season and was the architect of Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare title win with 15 wickets.

In T20s, the youngster has 31 wickets so far in just 20 matches with a more-than-impressive average of just 17.93. In August 2019, he was named in the India Blue team's squad for the 2019–20 Duleep Trophy.

In the second quarterfinal match of the 2023–24 season of Ranji Trophy, Tushar Deshpande came in at number 11 and scored a century and made a record for the second biggest partnership for 10th wicket in the history of Ranji Trophy.

IPL Career

In the 2020 IPL auction, Tushar Deshpande was bought by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League for a sum of INR 20 lakhs. He appeared in five games in his debut season picking up three wickets. He played his debut game on 14 October 2020 against Rajasthan Royals, and he picked up two wickets in that game. After being released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2022 mega auction, Tushar Dehapande's fortunes took a new turn and he was included in their team by Chennai Super Kings.

In the 2023 IPL, Tushar Deshpande gave the best performance of his career, taking 21 wickets in 16 matches, and was the highest wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings that year.

Tushar Deshpande was born on 15 May 1995 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The tall and lanky bowler has revealed in an interview that he gets inspired by South African veteran pacer Dale Steyn, who is an inspiration to him. He is married to his long-time girlfriend Nabha Gaddamwar in 2023 who is an art instructor.
