A Northeast Side Independent High School remains under a vague, “secure” status after a threat potentially involving a gun was reported against a student. No suspect has been located at this time, but the San Antonio Police Department says officers are still patrolling the area on the lookout for the suspect.
According to early information from the San Antonio Police Department, an active scene remains near James Madison High School at 5005 Stahl Road on the Northeast Side of the city. SAPD told MySA someone called in to 911 saying an individual made a threat to harm a student at the high school. However, an SAPD spokesperson says the person alleged to make the threat never made it inside the school.
“It is unclear at this time whether a gun was ever involved, and the suspect has not been located,” an SAPD spokesperson told MySA. “Fusion is monitoring the situation, and officers continue to search for the suspect.”

No reports have come in that anyone was harmed in the exchange, and Madison High School has not entered a lockdown despite the supposed threats made. Rather, the campus has entered what both the SAPD spokesperson and a media contact with Northeast Independent School District called “secure” status.
“The school did not go into a lockdown. It did go into a secure as a precaution due to a safety issue off campus,” an NEISD spokesperson told MySA. “Lockdowns are issued when there is a threat on the campus. Fortunately, those are very rare. Secures are typically issued when there is a situation occurring off campus.”
The call came in around 11 a.m. Monday morning, April 22, so there doesn’t appear to be any immediate threat to students or staff on campus or residents in the area despite continued efforts by SAPD to locate the individual.
