The Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort & Spa 5* is an astonishing complex, situated on the Mayan Riviera, just 20 miles from Playa del Carmen, and 1 hour from the airport at Cancun. Is in a class of its own due to its spectacular design. It brings to mind the ancient Mayan buildings; but at the same time, a moder, minimalist style which blends perfectly with the luxurious natural vegetation in the gardens.

Nestled amidst nature, the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort captivates guests with its secluded charm and proximity to local attractions, offering opportunities for wildlife encounters. The resort's array of amenities, including multiple pools, diverse dining options, and lively activities, are frequently applauded, although some areas have room for enhancement. While the service is often lauded for its friendliness and professionalism, there are occasional lapses. Despite the vibrant atmosphere, concerns over noise and room maintenance issues are noted, and some guests question the resort's overall value.

We came for a family vacation to this beautiful resort were you feel like you are in a tropical jungle . I have to say that it’s our first time in Mexico, however it was beyond our expectations. The resort is fabulous, the rooms have been renovated and all the rooms look very modern. The rooms were cleaned every day and each day they made us a new animal art from towels (kids just loved it).
The stuff always smiles, always says “olla” and you see that they are very friendly and nice people.
The food was delicious, we stayed 7 nights and we got 4 alacarte restaurants , usually you get only 3:
Mediterranean, Steak house, Mexican and Japanese.
All of those restaurants were great, Mediterranean and Japanese were the best.
The food in the buffet was also very delicious and with lots of choices.
Breakfast was very reach, better not to come in the end.
The resort has a sports bar, a juice bar near the beach , a coffee shop with a very tasty coffee, many bars, a sky bar, a kids club that works till 22:45 and many other cool stuff.
The lazy river was amazing, the beach was great and not wavy, with rocks in the water but we didn’t have any problem with this. We saw a lot of fishes swimming near us.
The entertainment team was great, they had many great games during the day and in the evening, each day we saw a different show, that was very professionally made by this team. They practice a lot and it’s noted.
The fire show at the beach was amazing, I saw many shows in my life, but this was the best!!!!
I recommend bringing your own thermo cups for the drinks and also water shoes, as the beach is a bit rocky. If you’re not Ecco friendly bring your own straws it’s much easier to drink and enjoy your drinks.
Also bring lots of sunscreen as it cost a lot at the resort and the sun is very strong here.
I wanted to point out that the resort is very big and we didn’t feel crowded at all.
We went to swim with the dolphins at the resort and we recommend it. The kids and ourselves liked this experience. We took the photos package and it was a great choice as otherwise we wouldn’t have any pictures from this experience.
For our family it was a great experience and we will definitely come back.

This is our second time to this resort and third time in this area of Mexico. The weather was spectacular during this visit. We experienced high twenties and blue skies with intermittent cloud cover. The winds off the Caribbean were high so beach snorkelling was out of the question during this trip.

I wish to emphasize the wonderful staff at the resort. The pool staff, greeters, and servers in the Ultimate Club are both cordial and efficient. They greet you with a smile each and every time. When the skies opened with a brief shower, pool staff diligently collected wet towels and forgotten items left behind by guests. The entertainment staff, such as Geromy, were fun and enthusiastic. Clemente (swim-up bar) and his bartending staff/servers are second-to-none. Always cordial and happy to make the vacation memorable.

Other staff in the resort were also gracious. For instance, I took a bike ride with other guests and led by Miquel. He explained all areas of the resort (the monkey cenote), Turtle Beach, and the disco during our ride. He kept safety top of mind, too. When our ride was interrupted by rain, safety was his top priority as well as our comfort.

The a la carte restaurants are all exceptional. One was not better than another. The food was tasty and served with expertise. Serving sizes were large! We were never disappointed. Personal favourites were the steak house, French, Mediterranean, and Japanese.

The room was clean and spacious. There were many amenities to make our stay exceptional. One night our room was decorated in rose petals to celebrate our 40th anniversary happening later in 2020. These touches make one feel exceptional and special.

We love the Sky Bar and entertainment. Over a two week period, the entertainers (in the theatre) offer exceptional shows like Michael Jackson, Lion King, and Rock as well as so many others. The Sky Bar is outside so offers a gorgeous view of the nighttime sky especially beautiful on a clear night. The bartenders (all of them) offer to make any kind of cocktail you want so go wild!

We travelled here for my girlfriends birthday and this hotel is just incredible. The complex is huge and it takes a little time to get to know your way around but once you do its a breeze.

Rooms were large and modern, they had clearly been renovated recently and although our view was of the jungle we really enjoyed watching all the wildlife come out in the afternoons.

Could not fault this hotel, we had a great holiday and made some amazing memories. Spent most of our time around the pool and the entertainment always kept you laughing. The foam party and beach party are a must and were so well arranged, the atmosphere at both was really good.

You only get three restaurant bookings a week but this was plenty if you spread them out. The buffet was fine, nothing to rave about you always found something to eat. The drinks service can be a little slow in here but if your persistent you usually get what you ordered.

Book your excursions through a local tour operator rather than Tui as they seem to over charge on most of their trips.

If you enjoy spas then definitely give this one a go, we had a great morning at the spa and we were tempted to go back.

All in all a great holiday and we would 100% return in the future. We are even thinking of giving the Grand Sirenis in Punta Cana a try this year.

We spent 10 days here and overall had a good time. We stayed in the Acat building which was close to all amenities. This resort is very big and surrounded by jungle.

Service: The staff here works extremely hard to give you the best vacation they can. The waiters do their very best to provide you with great service but are severely understaffed especially at El Rancho. They can only do so much but please be respectful and don’t forget to tip them for their hard work. Our maid was excellent and we never had any issues. The entertainment staff was great and the bike tour was well worth it.

Concierge: I can’t say enough good things about the concierge staff at Acat. Our à la cartes were all easily booked. We politely declined the time share meeting and did not feel pressure to attend. They greeted us with a smile every time we passed by and were so helpful whenever we needed help with anything. If there is anything you need they are the people to talk too and not reception as they are not interested in helping you.

Beach: This beach is very unique. It is not a long white sandy beach but more of a natural beach with beautiful rock formations. You do need water shoes here. Seaweed came in a bit on windy days but the staff stayed on top of keeping the beach clean.

Lounge Chairs: There is an abundance of chairs at the pool and the beach. Not once were we not able to find a place to sit. Yes people reserve their chairs for the day but I have no problem with people setting up for the day and leaving to eat, swim or use the lazy river as that’s what we often did.

Towels: Getting rid of towel cards would be a great idea for the hotel.

Food: Unfortunately this is where I felt the hotel fell short. We are not picky eaters but the buffet really lacked variety, freshness and flavour. A la cartes were ok but not great.

Wildlife: The wildlife here is very entertaining to watch! Iguanas, geckos, coatis, racoons, many types of birds and fish and of course the spider monkeys. Remember don’t feed the animals it’s very hard on them. On the bike tour we were informed that if you are caught feeding monkeys bananas you can be charged $2500 CA or a week in jail per banana! Yikes!

Overall we enjoyed our time here but it is probably not a place that we would return to.

The resort is great!
Beds are comfortable, food was good, pools and lazy river are awesome, staff was good!

Few things to point out!
Bring bug spray! My husband got eaten by mosquitos at night. We also kept finding then in the room. I noticed we had a big gap under the door so we put towels inside and outside the door. The next day the maid put a old towel there for us and then later that day they fixed it. By putting and filler there! We didnt even ask they just fixed it!!

I didnt mind the walking but if you have a hard time it's a huge resort and if the room is not by the lobby it can be alot of walking. There are shuttles but they are not scheduled. They just go where you need but you might be waiting a while for one.

The food was good! We have been to Dominican and Cuba but the food was much better here! The buffet is huge and they had different options all the time.

The times of the buffet is really annoying! I feel breakfast should be till 11. Lunch should start before 1 and dinner didnt start till 6:30?
The room service should also have breakfast included if they only service it till 10. I'm on vacation I don't want to get up and out by 9am to get breakfast. If you go a bit before 10 they start cleaning up and make you feel rushed.

The pizza place by the oxxo store to the right of the resort (when walking out) is amazing. The guy who owns it is very nice! We went 5 times to support him and get amazing pizza! We also found some monkeys by there!

First , we booked in to the standard rooms which were beyond filthy . The bathrooms are rusty and stained. We then enquired about the time share we got in Punta Cana as it’s a chain of hotels .
Punta Cana standard rooms are cleaner and better in facilities .
They managed to con us somehow into paying a future £3200 which would entail us to 52 weeks of a time share 1 year RCI and DAE . In total we paid £7200 including what we paid in Punta Cana and GOT NOTHING !!!

I have been scammed twice and yes Shame on me but I don’t want this happening to another family . Please don’t believe in the fake time shares .
They don’t exist !! It’s all a scam .

We were then moved to a different room which was cleaner and nicer for the last .
The last two days were lovely as we were being promised all sorts in return for our money .
When we got home in excitement we tried to book more and they responses started getting slower and eventually down to no response . We since got a letter cancelling the time share and no refund . So that’s how they make their money.

The staff is pleasant, work very Hard and are overworked in the heat, no break and they do the best they can do . They resort is extremely short staff so they save on profits. Entertainment team is good .

Drinks are watered down and the food is ok . It’s too crowded and hygiene is very, very poor . Cups at the pool are picked dipped in water after use and reused not washing them . They could invest in a dishwasher .

Jean Miguel Castilleros I.Personal Concierge ,
seemed sincere but he is a well trained rogue trader including Pamela linares who said we could book via her , she just ignored our emails .

Basically don’t trust anybody in the premium lounge and you don’t get anything after you leave . They ignore you and cancel your timeshare in no time with no refund . I will sharing my reviews on various travellers blogs to warn other people who may fall prey to this scam .

We lost £7000 English pounds and got nothing . Stay away from this hotel . They wouldn’t book our one week as promised and now we are out of pocket .

We visited Grand Sirenis in November 2020 soon after it reopened due to covid. This was for our honeymoon that had been previously cancelled due to resort closure. This was our first experience at an all en luso e resort and we were not disappointed. Even with the resort being at about 20% capacity it was so much fun and a wonderful experience. The food was very yummy, some things were better than others of course, but for food produced in large quantities we pretty much always found something we enjoyed. The staff is also incredible. Our concierge Christian was so attentive and helpful, the bartenders (Martin and Angel were our favorites) were so kind and always remembered my husband and his order. Elizabeth in the coffee shop was so sweet and makes AMAZING drinks.
Overall we felt very safe. I’m sure if there were more people there we may have felt the need to be more cautious but we would leave our bags at the table in the dining room, clothes and towels at the cabanas at the pool, and everything in our room was always untouched both in the safe and out of the safe.
The evening entertainment was great, even though it wasn’t in full swing, we were sad to miss out on the nightly shows since they were out of operation.
The spa with the hydro circuit was pretty cool, once again, our first experience with this.
For a young couple and a first time experience we had a blast. Felt so taken care of and always were able to get what we needed.

And the wildlife was so cool! We saw monkeys, coatis, goutis, toucans, iguanas, geckos, hermit crabs, and more!

1st time at Grand Sirenis, stayed from Christmas Eve until 7th January 2020. We didn't arrive until late Christmas Eve and we were so tired and hungry that we ended up at the wrong restaurant for the Gala dinner. However Monica the Assistant Manager even with all the people looking a table told us she would find us a table within 15minutes, which she did she also brought the chef to our table and introduced herself and him and said if we needed anything to let her know. First class service from the very start from Monica. We never need to call upon Monica as everything was completely perfect during our stay. The rooms are huge and comfortable, Our maid Martha did an excellent job and left us some towel art much to the delight of our Daughter. Every member of staff from Management to Gardeners, servers, entertainment team, concierge everyone was so friendly and hospitable.Special thanks to Elisa, Ruth, Daniela and Lilliani ( apologies if I spelt her name wrong) at Tequila and Sky bar for looking after us so well. Su from the entertainment team who chatted with us and made us feel very welcome on NYE. Miguel from the Buffet restaurant, always had our table ready, topped up our drinks constantly and made little roses out of napkins and spider out of corks for me and my Daughter and my Husband. Arturo at the Dolphin centre again was very helpful when we got lost on or first day, he also gave us loads of information on the dolphins and brought us up to watch the free show. We ate mainly at the buffet restaurants, the food was always fresh and plentiful all the chefs did a wonderful job, especially in the heat, always happy to cook your steak, pasta or omelette as you liked it. The resort has beautiful pathways with lovely little places round every corner e.g the coffee shop which was beautiful, lovely beach, beautiful scenery, lazy river was a big fav with our Daughter. 5th time to Mexico , Riviera Maya and my only regret is we didn't find this hotel sooner. We will definitely be back, thank you all so much for the memories, we had the holiday of a lifetime! XO

This resort is overall very nice. Good choice of food, restaurants, bars, entertainment, etc. The most special part about this resort is the variety of wildlife on the resort and the good snorkelling at the resort. This is the reason we stayed here and it did not disappoint. The beach is rough and you need footwear to go in water, but this is well documented in other reviews. Rooms are large and nice. Oceanview was good. Service was very good, especially beach drink servers (can't believe some guests don't tip these hard working ladies). Food was good. Lots of variety, some things not warm enough and meats we had in steak house and Brazilian restaurants was not very tender.

Our biggest issue with this resort (besides both getting sick, which may or may not be an issue with resort food handling practices as you can never tell what made you ill at these places) is the lack of enforcement of rules. There are signs eveywhere not to feed the wildlife and fish. What are so many guests doing, feeding the wildlife. There are designated smoking and non smoking area, which are often ignored. Also, guests playing their own music loudly on beach is quite annoying. Other minor issues are poor red wine at buffet (better at a la cartes even though same brand); disco is too far removed from main resort and not frequent enough shuttles; some disorganization at check in and out; 230 pesos for a toll free call from room is outrageous; and, charging $5 US for a hot dog and beer at super bowl viewing in theatre, seriously? Too much beach area and shuttles for club members, which was underutilized.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Grand Sirenis. We had a lovely time. There are many good points and a few bad which I’ll cover here.

The good

Rooms are nice. Clean, spacious and generally peaceful.

The complex is well maintained. Clean and well presented.

Staff are friendly and helpful but understaffed in places.

The restaurants and food are fabulous. Plentiful and varied as you’d expect.

The pools are wonderful. The lazy river is fun. A swim up bar is great.

However...

The bad

The pools can get noisy with foam parties games and load music. Not for me I’m afraid, it was so noisy I couldn’t read. Others seemed to reach the same conclusion as the quiet pool was in demand and towels reserve the spots early.

The beach does not compare to anything in Playacar - we did days out to incredible beaches so it wasn’t too much of an issue for us.

The alcohol. Watered down beyond belief. How the odd person got into the state they did I can’t tell. Perhaps they brought their own.

We needed to use the concierge for our apartments who were initially helpful but then proceeded to offer us free time in the spa which we declined as it was clearly a time share presentation. Beware.

Personally I wouldn’t return to this hotel. It is too large and feels as though it’s being run on an industrial scale. This costs it many of the personal touches and feelings that a smaller resort can offer.

I know there are spiders in the woods but I never seen any out and about, I am sure they don't want anything to do with us...
