If there’s a movie to make you feel bad for not doing enough with the life you have it’s this one. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. It’s hard not to be touched by stories like this. Anthony Hopkins was superb.
Lots of sniffles and tears at my screening. The story is so moving that all the movie had to do to be good was just tell it. It tells it just fine. Autopilot British style/music etc. Nothing interesting about the execution. But when Hopkins cries you cry that’s the rule.
Extraordinary story about a remarkable man, but the film itself was pretty unremarkable and felt like a lot of lost potential
This was a tough watch. The filmmaking here is very standard, the direction, the screenplay, the score and the editing, everything felt very textbook British biopic way, nothing innovative in terms of cinematic experience.
But I simply cannot disregard the emotional impact this film contains. The heroic journey of Nicholas Winton was highly inspiring to witness and though I wasn’t getting emotionally invested with any characters except the protagonist, I could feel the tragedy and pain felt throughout the film. Then the third act happened, I wasn’t able to hold my tears, it was heartbreaking and heartfelt. I know if my dad sees this film he will be angry, devastated and shocked, I can see elders loving this film and…
OH MY GOD, mark my words, this film will get tons of nominees at the Oscars next year

I've never felt so useless after watching a film in all my life.
From a purely technical point of view "One Life" itself is perfectly 'fine'. However, the true story of Nicholas Winton's unbelievably selfless actions pre-WW11 is so powerful and moving, that it's immediately an important must watch part of cinema as far as I'm concerned. Any film that can evoke that much emotion from an entire theatre audience (and I mean everyone, the entire screen was silent during the credits) should receive a tonne of praise. Plus, you get to witness one of the greatest actors who has ever lived, deliver another terrific performance.

I will admit the film is probably a bit too overly sentimental and lacks the punch a lot of similar films might...but fuck man, I was bawling at the end. It sneaks up on you at the end but this film really made me emotional.
Also my screening of very old people seemed to react well to the adaptation of the 1980s BBC show That's Life! I'm embarrassed as an Englishmen that I'd never heard of the show till now.
P.S. Anthony Hopkins is superb, even if he's still in the shadow of his career highlight performance in Transformers: The Last Knight.
