martin a A great forgotten horror gem. The acting is fantastic and a great cast too. A Lord of the Manor Played by the excellent John Turner, marries four years after his first wife died by throwing herself out of a window, Whilst he is away with his new bride a local girl is murdered but she is found still alive and just before she dies she says his name. Locals then believe that he returned to kill her, Following this, a second girl dies. He then begins to be haunted by seeing and hearing his dead wife who follows him on a horse shouting "murdered". His father is then murdered, and he is seen in the room prior to the murder, however, all is not as it seems as clearly he cannot be in two places at once, and this time his alibi is the chief of police. A bit predictable but very enjoyable with a good twist in the end. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Something of a Hammer Horror copy in style, but the mystery period story is good enough to make this a worthy film in its own right. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Compared to director Robert Hartford-Davis' later films, this is surprisingly well mounted - elegant, even, with some striking cinematography from Peter Newbrook. Alas, despite some acting talent in the supporting roster (Peter Arne comes off best), this is mostly a dull and inordinantly *sedate* affair - more akin to a Gainsboro melodrama than a proper horror film.
