I have a copy of this album that matches all the specs of the first stereo pressing presented on this page, but it doesn't have the Van Gelder stamp on side 2. Also the label states "Manufactured by MGM Records Inc, 7165 Sunset Boulevard, HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA. All of there labels seen say "MGM Records, a division of Metro Goldwyn Meyer. Is this a new undocumented pressing? Please advise!

This is a collection of well-known bossa nova standards, expertly interpreted by Astrud Gilberto, released '65. Her flat, deadpan is hauntingly beautiful and most appropriate on these songs. It's easy to understand how she captivated American audiences went she first came to the USA.

The arrangements (by Marty Paich) are well conceived, and the performances are well executed. This record has the Creed Taylor/CTI sound.

A highlight is the appearance of Tom Jobim on "Agua De Beber". I keep wanting to hear the fuzzy tenor of Stan Getz filling in between vocals, as that combination is pure perfection, but alas, this is not that. My favorite by a good margin is "Dindi"; it gives me chills.

Excellent sounding pressing, full range and three-dimensional for a MONO mix. Very enjoyable.
