We (3 of us, all adutls), plan to spend 8-9 nights in Sapporo & Hokkaido.
How many days should we keep for Sapporo? Location to stay?
Please suggest other places to visit in Hokkaido.
Thanks.
There are plenty of interesting places in Hokkaido. Consider doing side trips from Sapporo to Otaru, Toya-ko, Noboribetsu, Jozankei, Shakotan Peninsula, Tomakomai and Shikotsu-ko.
I usually recommend 3 days in Sapporo incl a day trip to Otaru, served by frequent JR commuter trains in 30 min.
Consider also a few days in Biei/Furano to visit farms by car.
One of my visits in late Sep 2019 by car.

location in Sapporo-susukino-i stay at Mercure Hotel-near parks, transportation, etc good food-if it rains, underground walkway-if you have or want to experience onsens, you have many options-overnight or day trip..i went 21 straight years to Hokkaido and always based in Sapporo but i had and have friends there and take trips with them> williams outlined local day opportunities and DLI moves around a lot. I took a one day bus trip to Furano, saw the fields, etc from Sapporo. read all the posts on possible routes and determine what is to your liking. Great time of year-great island-my big thing is not wasting time checking in, checking out etc-I am going this June with 3 people who never saw Japan and one who has been a number of times and I am still not set on route-although I favor Lake Akan which would take up a lot of time but can see the island etc
