Saw star Tobin Bell teams with Machete’s Danny Trejo in the trailer for the slasher movie The Curse of Wolf Mountain. Bell debuted as famed horror villain Jigsaw way back in 2004’s original torture porn classic Saw, going on to reprise the role seven times, with an eighth appearance set to happen later this year in Saw X. Trejo in the meantime has become an overall genre movie icon thanks to decades of roles in fare ranging from Desperado to Anaconda to Con Air to, of course, 2010’s grind house tribute Machete and its sequel Machete Kills.

Despite both having been around for so many years, Saw X star Bell and Machete icon Trejo had surprisingly never appeared together in a movie, but now that has been remedied thanks to the low-budget slasher The Curse of Wolf Mountain, which just dropped a new trailer (via IGN).

Directed by David Lipper (Viper of Full House fame), the film stars Lipper himself alongside Bell and Trejo, together with Keli Price (The Clique) and Eddie McClintock (9-1-1).

What The Trailer Tells Us About The Curse Of Wolf Mountain

The synopsis for The Curse of Wolf Mountain reads as follows:

A.J. begins having dreams of his parents' death. He decides to go back to the spot where they were killed, accompanied by his brother and his brother's family. But legend has it there is something mysterious roaming these woods.

The something mysterious roaming the woods is revealed by the trailer to be a killer who at one point seems to get the better of Trejo. In addition to apparently spoiling Trejo’s death, the trailer also provides a brief glimpse of Saw star Bell as the protagonist A.J.’s therapist.

Those who watch a lot of low-budget horror will immediately suspect that Trejo and Bell are featured only briefly in the movie, and that the story mainly focuses on the younger cast as they are chased around in the woods by the movie’s mysterious killer. At one point a park ranger character tells the kids there’s a werewolf haunting Wolf Mountain, but it’s clear the killer is a human, who comes armed with a variety of weapons including a giant knife and a bow-and-arrow.

The Curse of Wolf Mountain overall looks to be a blend of psychological horror and old-fashioned Friday the 13th slasher movie tropes, featuring the requisite cast of young people being stalked through the woods. Devotees of such low-budget fare, along with fans of Trejo and Bell, may find some reason to check out the movie when it hits VOD on May 9, 2023.
