The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is a large, long building that costs 200 yen to enter for adults. Japan takes responsibility for their escalated war aggression in WWII. It is an excellent rendition of the horror, including the bomb survivors and effect on the nation. The video on the first floor before ascending the escalator is excellent. Actually it is free, as tickets are only required at the escalator. Plan hours here.

I had seen photos and read information, but not until standing at the site where the first atomic bomb exploded on August 6, 1945 did I feel its impact so emotionally.

The Hiroshima Memorial Park is a space that has been made to respect all those lost in the aftermath of the atomic bomb being dropped on this area of Japan in 1945. As you navigate the park you can not help but be moved by the loss of life and tragedy that happened here.
It was good to see the amount of young school children here learning of the past and getting a feel of the need to get rid of all nukes.

This garden is definitely worth a visit while in Hiroshima. The cost was about $1.10 USD for 1 adult ticket. You can spend as much time as you want and I recommend at least one hour. I’m not sure if you can sit and eat your lunch on a bench or not. I did see some students eating at a table near the exit.

This is beautiful garden with koi fish, turtles and a little path that meanders through the grounds. So much to look at. A cement bridge to walk over if you want and so many photo opportunities. A nice group of middle school children asked to interview me for a school project and I loved speaking with them. A lovely day indeed.

Children's Peace Monument is dedicated to bombing victim children who, though innocent, were affected by the consequence of war. There are many, many origami left there made in the name of peace.

With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, there was a sense of resilience and renewal in the Peace Memorial Park. This park is one of the better well-designed parks that I have visited. The eternal flame, the atomic dome, and everything seems to be aligned. And obviously, peace was the underlying theme throughout the park.

Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims is free and just as its name states. The Hall of Remembrance contains 140,000 tiles representing the number of people who died.Three is a 360degree panorama as seen from the Shima Hospital, the hypocenter of the bombing. In the center is a fountain asa clock at 8:15 am —the time the bomb dropped. From March 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025 there is a special video exhibit about the 4000 Akatsuki Corps; very very interesting and captivating.

Great ballpark! Buy your beer, and they have girls with beer dispensers to come around and give refills. The price and quality of the merchandise are excellent. Nice times!
The people and culture of Japan are top-notch!

First I don’t know why this place is ranked so low. Compared to Shukkeien Garden which is ranked much higher, this place is what most tourist expects from Japan - nature, shine, religion and history - all combined in this 2 hours easy hike. You have the entire place to yourself (when I was there early morning in March). It is little far (like 20 min subway ride and 20 min walk or u can take a 45 min bus to decrease the walking time) from city centre but well worth the travel. I was impressed and glad I had a moment with this place which will stay with me forever.

What a great find. Conveniently located opposite the hotel where we were staying. I was surprised to find so many works of art from famous artists but I really enjoyed the Japanese Art. It was great to be able to view the paintings without crowds. I felt privileged to do so. There is a small shop and cafe in addition to the museum.

We didn't have time to go into the castle, but we walked all the way around it and it is such a photogenic castle. There were lots of places to get photos from different perspectives and angles.
