Pick of the day: The Misadventures Of Romesh Ranganathan

9pm, BBC Two HD (CH 102)

Travel restrictions mean we haven’t seen much of Romesh Ranganathan’s globetrotting adventures recently, but the BAFTA-winning show is back for a fourth (if you don’t count the lockdown “From My Sofa” episodes) and final series that takes our reluctant hero to southern Africa. Forthcoming episodes will see him in Rwanda and Madagascar, but this week he’s in Uganda for white-water rafting on the Nile, wildlife spotting in Queen Elizabeth National Park, and a banana gin tasting session. But it’s not all fun times, as he also speaks to a local LGBTQ+ activist facing oppressive new legislation.

Thursday 6 June

Pick of the day: Taskmasterclass

9pm, Channel 4 HD (CH 116)

Is there, in fact, any point to the seemingly pointless tasks on Taskmaster? It’s the burning philosophical question faced by the show’s fans and, indeed, contestants, who are sometimes caught with a “What am I doing with my life?” look on their face by the TM cameras. Greg Davies and Alex Horne narrate this look behind the scenes at the impulse behind some of the show’s most bizarre challenges, illustrated by footage featuring popular contestants including Guz Khan, Jo Brand and Ed Gamble.

Pick of the week: Football: UEFA Champions League Final – Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund

Saturday 1 June, 6pm, TNT Sports 1 HD (CH 527) + TNT Sports Freeview (CH 524)

A couple of weeks ago, you wouldn’t have put money on Borussia Dortmund being just 90 minutes away from the biggest prize in European football. After humbling PSG in the semi-finals, though, Die Schwarzgelben more than deserve their place at Wembley. But what an opponent they face in Real Madrid. The most successful club in the competition’s history, with the most successful coach in the competition’s history in Carlo Ancelotti, they’re also La Liga champions – fuelled by England star Jude Bellingham’s stunning debut season.

Although it’s not quite David versus Goliath, a BVB win would be a shock – but you can never rule out these wily operators, who a generation ago pulled off a huge Champions League upset by beating Juventus in the 1997 final. Can they overcome the might of Real? It’s set to be an epic clash.

Pick of the week: Bonus Track

Available from Saturday 1 June in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12

Teenager George (Joe Anders) is an aspiring musician with one problem: no one is interested in his music. That’s until Max (Samuel Small) enrols at his school and the pair begin a highly productive partnership that brings George out of his shell. But could it be that George and Max are fated to make more than music together? The end-of-term show might be a decisive moment for them both. A likeable and entertaining coming-of-age movie, co-written by The Crown star Josh O’Connor.
