Roy Woods, 88 year old Enid resident, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in Enid, Oklahoma. At this time no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Roy Landon Woods was born October 31, 1935 to Nelson and Mary (Hardy) Woods at their home North of Gage, Oklahoma. Roy grew up north of Arnett and graduated from Arnett High School. He furthered his Education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he earned his Master's degree. Roy was united into marriage to Coleta Grice on July 27, 1953 in Arnett, Oklahoma. The newlyweds made their first home in Gate, Oklahoma. They also lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Alva, Oklahoma; Fort Collins, Colorado, Scott City, Kansas, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Dalhart, Texas, and Enid, Oklahoma.

Roy was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1955 and served his country before being honorably discharged in 1957.

Roy entered the workforce in Oklahoma City for the United States Postal Service, he then became a teacher in Windsor, Colorado and Shallowater, Kansas. He continued to follow his passion in Education, becoming a high school Principal in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and retired as an elementary school Principal in Dalhart, Texas. Roy enjoyed farming, ranching and playing tennis. His family and pets brought him the most enjoyment in life. He was a member of the Toastmasters, as well as the Kiwanis Club.

Roy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Coleta Woods; one son, Michael Woods and wife Cindy, of Waukomis, Oklahoma; one daughter, Rebecca (Woods) Stout and husband, Kevin of Hale Center, Texas; brother, Grover Woods and wife Norvella of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister Mary Jane (Woods) Mitchell of West Pueblo, Colorado; grandchildren: Jennifer Woods of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Christina (Woods) Watkins and husband, Jarod, of Enid, Oklahoma, Michael Woods of Waukomis, Oklahoma, Colton Stout of College Station, Texas, Holly (Woods) McDowell and husband Blake of Mustang, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Pernita, and brothers, Lynn and Dale.
