Have you ever tailgated outside an Oregon Ducks football game? In that case, you've been to Harlow, a narrow neighborhood in northwest Eugene that offers a mixture of housing and easy access to the shopping centers on Interstate 5.

Stretching from the University of Oregon's Autzen Stadium to the Randy Pape Beltline, this neighborhood's housing stock is evenly split between ranch-style houses from the 1960s and 1970s and contemporary houses built within the past 30 years. Lot sizes in its newer and older subdivisions tend to run between 7,000 and 10,000 square feet – so you have plenty of space for a well-manicured front lawn and a fenced backyard – while an overabundance of sidewalks makes it easy to walk from Point A to Point B. With these advantages in mind, Harlow's houses typically fetch $400,00 to $850,000 – which skews toward the higher end of Eugene's median price range.

Harlow's southern boundary is dominated by Alton Brown Park – a 373-acre park offering a playground, an off-leash dog park, and boat ramps providing access to the Willamette River – and the cluster of college athletic fields that surround the 56-year-old Autzen Stadium. Head north, and you'll come across two smaller neighborhood parks, Ascot and Willakenzie, that offer open space and a basic play area for children. Holt Elementary and Monroe Middle Schools also call this neighborhood home and serve its children from kindergarten through the eighth grade. These two schools received a solid B on Niche.com, while Sheldon High School, which serves Harlow's high school students, received an A- on the website and was named the second-best public high school in Lane County.

Finally, Harlow's location at the nexus of three major highways – I-5, State Route 126, and the belt line – means you're just minutes away from several shopping destinations. An Albertson's and a Trader Joe's sit opposite each other at the Oakway Center Shopping Mall in the neighborhood's southwest corner. The Sheldon Plaza Shopping Center on Coburg Road features a Market of Choice and a Safeway. A Costco and a WinCo Foods are at the intersection of Coburg and the beltline. If you cross over I-5 on Harlow Road, you'll find a Cabela's, a movie theater, a Target, and a Walmart at the Shoppes at Gateway shopping center. Scattered amongst these major shopping destinations, you'll find McMenamins North Bank brewpub, where you can enjoy a Hammerhead India Pale Ale and some fish and chips on a patio overlooking the river. There's also the Sabai Café and Bar, which offers a collection of dishes from Thailand and the Pacific Rim, and Eugene's Bangers and Brews location, known for its sausage and beer selection.

Watching the Oregon Ducks football team play a home game at Autzen Stadium is a reason to visit northwest Eugene's Harlow neighborhood. The shops, restaurants, and parks surrounding this area make it a great place to call home.
