March 4, 2024--Mount St. Mary's freshman De'Shayne Montgomery has been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week.  The freshman guard averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds on the Mount's two-game road trip to Western New York. 

Montgomery shot 11-of-17 (.647) from the field and 10-of-12 (.833) at the line for the week.  He capped the week with 25 points and five assists in the Mount's 91-72 win at Niagara, hitting 8-of-11 from the field and 8-of-8 at the line in the game.  Montgomery posted eight points, four assists and four rebounds in the Mount's 61-56 loss to Canisius.

Montgomery has won the award five times this season, the most in the MAAC this season.  His five Rooke of the Week awards are the most by a Mount player since Vado Morse collected six in 2018-19 when the Mount was in the Northeast Conference.

Montgomery is averaging 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 52.7percent from the field. 

The Mountaineers close out the regular season at home against Fairfield for Senior Day on Saturday, March 9.  Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. at Knott Arena.
