    Wintertime visit
Visited Ocean Beach on Christmas Day....a perfect way to walk off all that food. No entry fee. It was a brisk winter evening, however, it the beach had a bit of a buffer from the wind (at least on this day). Much friendlier than their next door neighbors at Harkness park. Beautiful way to enjoy the sunset.

    Beautiful Beach
We came over in July from Northern Ireland and had a great time. We've been here twice now, lots of parking, a short walk to the beach, restrooms and other amenities. They also have an outdoor pool, slides and rides that you pay additionally for. The beach is incredible, lovely sand and water, I would highly recommend. Beautiful beach.

    Gorgeous and active beach
This gorgeous beach has a lot of wonderful amenities for everyone: a beautiful beach that's clean and well-maintained, a boardwalk to stroll and people-watch, a playground for kids, and clean restrooms. You pay extra for the pool and mini-golfing, although the prices weren't that high for those. The highest price is the parking fee, which applies to the whole vehicle (not per person), so it's more worth it to carpool here. The creamery was pretty good.

We went on a Tuesday 7/28. We reached around 9:20 and there was plenty of parking and plenty of space to spread out in the beach.

The sand was hot and water was cool. There are no waves to speak of, so not good for boogie boarding. And as high tide was coming in, there were people who where jumping off rocks and riding the water like lazy river. That looked like fun. We even saw a submarine pulling into the port.

All the parties were socially distanced. No food was available but the restrooms were open and clean. I loved how they have covered areas with benches facing the beach for anyone who is unable to walk on the sand. They also had a big covered area with picnic benches.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beach and would not hesitate going there again, pandemic or no pandemic.

We were there a week ago on a Sunday afternon. The trash was heaping over abd a large group of people left trash all over the beach and parking lot. It appeared that staff was picking it up on the beach. Bathrooms were very clean though. Not sure if they were understaffed because of Covid. Upsetting to see because its always been a clean beach.

I consider this one of the best beaches in Connecticut. Soft sand, ample space, good vibes, a beautiful boardwalk, and it is full of diversity. There are also many off beach amenities such as a pool, good carnival-style eateries with greasy beach food, great changin rooms and bathrooms that are generally very clean. The areas of the beach have different cultures - some quiet, some with a party vibe, the volley ball courts can be a hit. There's a nice big boardwalk. That said, the location in the sound means, for good or for bad, it doesn't get very wavy or windy. In the dog days of summer (August) there can be jellyfish or bees, but for the most part it is a perfect temperate location.

Unfortunately this venue has seen better days. It is not sugar sand, the rides are old and good for under 10. Everything thing except the boardwalk has a worn out look and feel. This is not a classic east coast boardwalk experience.

So we decided to break up our normal Beach routine and instead of heading to our regular beach in Rhode Island we decided to take a little road trip to Ocean Beach Park in Connecticut. We didn't really have much of an expectation just wanted to break up the routine. We went on a Monday and to our pleasant surprise when we arrived the lady at the gate was very polite and nice and the parking was plentiful we were able to park only five spaces from the boardwalk. The beach was clean and not overly crowded we were able to find a nice spot and just relax and enjoy the calm waters. We found some amazing shells and even managed to fall asleep on the beach for a short time. I must say this beach was very clean and relaxing and we really enjoyed the day trip. I would recommend this beach to anyone looking for a relaxing mid week break.

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I’ve been coming to Ocean Beach since I was a child. It’s been a few years and some of the negative reviews almost scared me away. I’m glad I came. Just like I remember. Nice family friendly beach. Really enjoy the river at the far end. Will definitely come back!

Nice beach, kind of trashy venues on the so-called boardwalk. If you're a Jersey Shore person, this boardwalk will make you laugh. It's tiny and there isn't much. Good parking, nice for a one-time visit, but no need to go back. Scary ride through New London to get there, but as you get closer to the water, the neighborhood improves significantly.
