On this silent snow filled day, Bertha Lou Atkins Pentecost slipped peacefully into Jesus’s hands and celebrated her 75th birthday on Friday, January 8, 2021 in heaven. She was born January 8, 1946 to the late Eugene Atkins and Ruth Elizabeth King Atkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raven Atkins and sisters, JoAnn Flynn and Carol Jones.
Those left to celebrate Bertha's wonderful memories are her husband of 55 years, A.J. Pentecost whom she wouldn’t trade for anything. Their love will always remain true because their friendship was everlasting; her loving daughter, Tammy Pentecost; brother, Alvin Atkins and his wife, Mary, Gilbert Atkins, sister, Janie Gregory; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to the very wonderful staff of Good Samaritan Hospice. In lieu of sending flowers, Bertha wanted you to plant flowers in her memory instead. Celebration of life will be held at Faith Central Fellowship on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 1:oop.m. with pastor Michael Barnett officiating.
Bertha was a wonderful artist producing many richly detailed oil paintings, paying special attention to shadow and character. She retired after 10 years from Medeco and spent 30 years at May Best. She loved traveling with her husband in their Studebaker visiting their many friends all over the United States. Her favorite places to travel to were Utah and Colorado. She loved her husband’s cooking, especially his fried potatoes, green beans, and country ham. She was a real jokester—always laughing and cutting up.
