Thanks to the communities of Cooma and Bombala for welcoming our medical students. They had a wonderful time meeting the locals and learning about rural living. There is no doubt some will be back to undertake a year-long clinical placement in the region.

More evidence - this time from an analysis of 232 clinical #antidepressant trials - of the limited effectiveness of these medications for #depression and the pressing need for alternatives such as #rTMS.

Clinical Associate Professor Louise Stone is a medical educator for the ANU Doctor of Medicine and Surgery program. She is also a general practitioner. In this beautifully written piece she eloquently reveals the often untold and unknown role of a general practitioner.

In all this talk of Medicare & diagnoses & evidence & AI it's easy to forget what MH is about.People come to us because they hurt & they need us to hear their story & help them find meaning in it. This is what it is like for me in GP. An everyday privilege bjgp.org/content/71/713

Really pleased our paper is out in the #ANZJP laying out clearly the overwhelming evidence supporting the use of #rTMS therapy in #depression.
Looking forward to continuing to work on improving this treatment and making it more accessible.

The #ANZJP have published another completely inacccurate anti-#rTMS in #depression article by its former editor. The "Five Facts about rTMS" are all misleading and unsupported (except by self-citation). A summary of the actual evidence can be found here:

As we posted last week, this is *already* a problem. Hiring saw its first substantial hit since the initial Covid-19 downturn in Q1-20 in ’s April data. Job growth fell across the board. We’ll see how the May numbers fare…

Interesting to see how inaccurately the #RANZCP college depression guidelines address #psychotherapy of #depression ( lnkd.in/gRK9Cwv8). Coupled with how misleadingly the guidlelines address #rTMS ( lnkd.in/gzAB6kiM), it is time for the to act and fix this!

Interesting article - #ANZJP on #antidepressants: core take away only ~ 1/5th of patients respond if they don't show improvement early. Pity they included an out of date characterisation of #rTMS as 4th line - clearly it is highly useful much earlier tinyurl.com/sfvpe5ry

Great to see the new comprehensive and really well put together German #rTMS #depression guidelines. A really nice change after some of the nonsense being repeatedly published about rTMS here in Australia

Great to see our new article on #rTMS in #depression is out in the #ANZJP. Hopefully this will dispell some of the misleading ideas propogated in the journal about what is actually overwhelming evidence for the effectiveness of #rTMS therapy.
