Neighbourhood: Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.

I went to a sold our concert. My husband left his wallet on the bar and a good security guard grabbed it and hung on to it until my husband went looking for it... had they not been fast enough, it may have been stolen and we never would have found it in this huge sold out venue! The coat check was understaffed a bit... it took abut an hour to get our coats...

Amazing Kiwanuka! Great venue for an intimate show. Close from the metro station and many cozy restaurants. Was my first time there and won't hesitate to go back in the future.

Great location to see Michael Kiwanuka in concert. Intimate surroundings, great sounds and lights. If you get the chance to see a favourite musician at the Corona Theatre count yourself lucky.

We travelled to Montreal to see L.A. band, the Allah Las. Having already seen them in NYC, and not wanting to see them on a Sunday in Toronto, we headed up the 401 to Montreal. This is a beautiful venue in a funky neighbourhood. Staff were friendly, but a little slow getting people through the door on a bitterly cold night (does Montreal have any other kind of night in winter?). The multi-level venue has been lovingly restored, and even the bathrooms are clean and spacious. You can watch the show in general admission on the floor, or slightly higher up on a mezzanine. For the brave, go up to the absurdly sloped balcony. The sight-lines are great, but avoid it if you get vertigo or have imbibed too much. Seriously. The drinks are priced as one would expect, and the pour was heavy. The sound was perfect. The band was brilliant, as well. But, for some reason, the very young (under 25) crowd have decided the Allah Las are a band that merits a mosh pit and crowd surfing, which even the band acknowledged as unusual and not the norm for them. Maybe the youth of Montreal have pent-up energy that needs to be expressed. Had we not had the mezzanine, they would have ruined the show for the rest of us. Let us hope this night was the exception, because this venue is great for any show.

Location: In the Southwest, east of Atwater. Street parking is available but metered, though you can likely find a spot on one of the residential streets. Check the zoning. You can also walk from the Lionel-Groulx station.

The place/ the goods: Small and intimate venue where you'll be hard pressed NOT to have a great view of the stage. The downstairs section is standing room only, while upstairs, there are seats. On the night that I went, the upstairs was closed but this wasn't a problem - I stood against the rail right behind the sound board. Great acoustics and great show.

Price point: Since these are smaller shows, the tickets are usually cheaper. In this case, The Barr Brothers show was $46 tax in.

Great venue for a show!

Went to see two bands that were ill-suited for this venue: The Barr Brothers with Richard Reed Parry's Quiet River of Dust.
No seating. The balcony was closed. Thus, when concert-goers are left to stand around during acts that command attention, they tend to socialize... all the nuances of the musicianship these bands have to offer were lost.
A wasted evening.

I went to the Corona for a concert and was very impressed. The venue is small, so every spot in the theater is a good spot to experience the show.

This theater has all the charm of an old school venue and I love it.

I really liked the way they had things set up there. There is a nice open space in front of the stage for people to watch and dance.

Located in a hip neighborhood, the whole experience is definitely a win.

The layout of the venue is nice. There’s plenty of space to stand if you don’t want to be in the crowd.

I have been to several concerts at The Corona over the years, most recently to see The Breeders, and it's always a great venue. Great sound, intimate, with that old Montreal charm in the architecture.

Good bar, reasonable prices, friendly staff and security. Have never driven to the venue itself, as Uber rides from the Peel- area hotels are only around $10, so can't comment on ease of parking.

Joe Beef/Wellington house is literally across the street, and the Atwater cocktail club is a minute down the road. So, some fantastic pre or post-show options for dinner or drinks. The Burgundy Lion is also next door if you're looking for a casual pub.

Corona also has some fantastic bands passing through very frequently. Check their events page often! By the way, The Breeders were amazing. :)

This is my favourite concert venue in Montreal. The old theatre has a cool sort of hipster appeal. There is a large general admission area just in front of the stage and a balcony above. Capacity is about 750. Great acts come through here too: Jake Bugg, Avett Brothers, Sheepdogs... Nicely located. Surrounded by good eats.
