Jacques Gautreaux, thank you for this excellent information!
Is Mr. Valentino singing lead on all or most of the songs?
Also, did Mr. Elliot write all or most of the songs?

Sal sang on three or four of the songs but the vocal chores were also split up between Declan Mulligan, Ron Meagher, Ron Elliot and Butch Engle. Elliot wrote all the songs. Some are older songs but most were written over the past several years. We started the project in September 2011 and finished in March 2012.

    Thank you, sir!
And, wow, mixing Butch Engle with the Beaus...why not? :D The Styx recorded a whole mess of Mr. Elliot's songs.

I ordered the disc from Bay Sound Records one week ago, but have not received correspondence regarding confirmation. I am patiently waiting a reply and the disc!

Sal was living here in Sacramento five or six years ago and he recorded a few projects with a local musician Davis Houston (not the country singer) and performed pretty regularly in a few venues but Ihaven't kept up with him and haven't seen his name in a while so he might have moved away. I only have Bradley's Barn so I'm far feom an expert on the band but it's a keeper.

I met Sal Valentino last summer at (of all places) a yard sale here in Sacramento. We talked for awhile about Stoneground and gave me a rundown on what some of the old Stoneground members were up to these days. Nice fellow!

What ever happened to the expanded version of Triangle that Rhino was putting out? Would be nice to see that sometime soon!

The s/t 1975 album on CD....

Does the Taxim sound better than the Collector's Choice?

Do they possibly share the same mastering?

The three Stoneground Warner albums would make a perfect BGO project:cheers:

  16. So what did happen to the deluxe Rhino of Triangle in the end? The two-fer posted upstream is from Real Gone Music - the less said about that the better. I presume the Rhino has been abandoned to allow Real Gone the space to peddle needle-drops?

  17. The Real Gone Twofer has some excellent reviews posted on Amazon. What makes you think it's a needledrop?

  18. I think any confusion over this might arise from there actually being TWO completely different record companies calling themselves Real Gone! The US based company has no connection to the EU based one AFAIK, so the Triangle release on the US label might indeed be from proper tapes? When I posted my earlier comment I did not know at the time of the existence of 'another' Real Gone, only the EU one which some people have alleged sometimes sell CD's sourced from needle drops. Argh.......misinformation and the internet. We could write a book about that!

    Hello everyone!

The other day I gave a re-listening to San Fran sessions by the Sundazed label and loved it.
So thought I'd add some more BB CDs to my collection.
Now I am not going to spend huge amounts of money on Rhino's handmade cds so my questions are

1)Are the 2 Repertoire CDs for "Introducing" and "Volume 2" in as good a sound as the Sundazed which have less bonus tracks?

2)Are the Repertoire bonus tracks repeated on the San Fran 3 disc set or are they exclusive to these editions?

3)Does the Magic Hollow Rhino collection include complete LPs?

4)Does the Triangle/Bradley's 2 Fer from Real Gone sound good enough?

    Thank you in advance!

Sundazed and Real Gone have both earned stellar reputations for sound. I would buy either without qualms.

The Triangle/Bradley's Barn two-fer on Real Gone is a no-brainer purchase. A great value, for sure.

The Collector's Choice versions of these two albums also sound good but will cost more to find (and then you will have to buy two cds.)

Keep looking for a used copy of Magic Hollow. I've been buying everything I could find by the Beau Brummels since 1967 when I stumbled upon Volume 44 on Vault Records at a Times Square record store that closed long ago. The Rhino set contains revelation upon revelation.

    Thank you, guys!
But it is very expensive and I would still need to buy the albums for they are not complete in Magic Hollow, right?
Do you know if the Repertoire edition of the first 2 LPs sounds good and the bonus tracks are not repeated in San Fran Sessions 3 disc set?

I own pretty much all of it, and submit that Magic Hollow will give you all you really need. I don't have the Repertoire versions of the first two LPs (I have other ones), but the key tracks are already on the Rhino set. The first two are great, but do have some filler.Great notes, too with Magic Hollow. The 1976 reunion LP is also in print and is great. You're in for some terrific listening.
    Good luck!

Thank you again! Do you happen to know how many of the 60 songs/versions in "San Fran Sessions" are repeated in Magic Hollow?
