Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley is set to star in Netflix's film adaptation of Ruth Ware's 2016 best-selling novel, The Woman in Cabin 10, Variety exclusively reported.

The Woman in Cabin 10 follows the story of travel journalist Laura or Lo, who has been assigned to cover the maiden voyage of luxury yacht, Aurora Borealis. While on board, she witnesses what she believes is a passenger thrown overboard in the middle of the night. However, no one believes her story since all the passengers on the ship are accounted for. Even so, Lo continue to look for answers, which places her own life at risk, while the boat sails through the eerie North Sea.

Who is the woman in cabin 10?

The movie will be helmed by Simon Stone. His directing credits include the 2021 Netflix biographical drama The Dig, which starred Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes and Lily James, as well as the 2015 drama The Daughter, starring Geoffrey Rush and Sam Neill. In 2017, he directed Yerma, starring Billie Piper,  for National Theater Live.

Stone will direct from Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse's script. Production company Sister Pictures will produce the film along with. Debra Hayward. Ilda Diffley of Sister will serve as executive producer.

Knightley was first nominated for an Oscar as best actress for playing Elizabeth Bennett in 2005's film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice. She co-starred with Succession star Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy and Saltburn's Rosamund Pike as her sister Jane.

The actress' second Oscar nomination for best supporting actress was for 2014's The Imitation Game, opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, who was also nominated for best actor.

But she is arguably most famous for playing Elizabeth Swann, with Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow and Orlando Bloom's Will Turner, in four out of the five Pirates of the Caribbean films: 2003's  Curse of the Black Pearl, 2006's Dead Man's Chest, 2007's At World's End and 2017's Dead Men Tell No Tales.

One of her earliest credits was in the 1999 Star Wars – Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace as Padme Amidala's (Natalie Portman) double.

Knightley was most recently seen in last year's Hulu movie, Boston Strangler, where she played American journalist Loretta McLaughlin, the first reporter to connect the murders and break the story about the infamous serial killer. She will next be seen in the upcoming Netflix series Black Doves, which is currently in production.
