Rangel was arrested in May after a caller reported that a man was using an object to beat a German Shepard outside of his home.

During the investigation, Cass County deputies say they found evidence to support the allegation. Additionally, investigators said they discovered additional evidence that other mistreatments of the dog had happened days before.

Rangel was sentenced to 2 years probation and ordered to pay a $200 fine plus fees and court costs. He was given credit for 32 days served in jail.
