Hart eventually left her for Cassie Layne (Laura Wright, Carly Corinthos, General Hospital), but Dinah manipulated him into marrying her with news of a pregnancy and a faked illness. When Hart finally decided to return to the woman he truly loved, Dinah tried to shoot Cassie but he jumped in front of the bullet. Hart went into cardiac arrest and died after suffering brain damage when his blood supply was cut off for too long a period of time during surgery.
