Everyone swooned over The Voice on Monday night when contestant Asher HaVon wowed the crowd with a ’90s R&B classic.

It was the Live round, where the show’s top 12 singers often get nervous.

But not HaVon, who is part of Reba McEntire’s team. He effortlessly nailed Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You.”

‘That was Divine’

The crowd was amazed by his performance, and so were the judges.

Coach Reba said that “he could sing the phonebook and make it a hit.”

John Legend compared his performance to a religious experience.

“There are certain things about you that remind me of Whitney Houston,” he raved. “She would take these songs that weren’t written for a soul singer and have that restraint and regal presence on the sound but also throw in a dope run that you would hear in church.”

“In church, we save a descriptor for certain vessels, we say they’re anointed. I just felt that anointing on you,” Legend said. “That was divine.”

HaVon has been a standout on The Voice this season. A native of Selma, Alabama, Asher grew up on gospel music.

When President Barack Obama visited Selma in 2015 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the famous 1965 civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Asher auditioned for a spot in the choir.

He not only made the cut, the choir director was so impressed that Asher led the choir that day.

In front of 200,000 people.

HaVon’s rock is his Mom, who has always encouraged him to sing since day one.

Boyz II Men’s “I’ll Make Love to You,”spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994. The legendary singing act got their first big break when Michael Bivins of New Edition and later Bell Biv Devoe discovered the group.

The rest is history.

HaVon said after rehearsals and before his big moment Monday night, “It was as big as I wanted it to be.”

“I just hope that I make everybody proud, I just hope that you all feel my heart, and please, vote for me,” he added.

If you’re a fan of HaVon, be sure to vote for him next week on “The Voice!”
