Desert Mountain High School Reviews
Rating 3.79 out of 5 484 reviews
Desert Mountain is continuously growing each year. With each year new students of all backgrounds come and create a diverse community. There are always different opportunities for all students and various of programs that fit into the students likings. I would want to see improvements to the school building itself, although it is quite large, cleanliness is a vital factor. Cockroaches and insects often occupy the facility which may lead to disturbing encounters. Nonetheless, the community that resides in the school is bright.
My overall experience at Desert Mountain High School was amazing. I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program which was only offered at a couple of high schools within the state giving me an advantage and unique education. I was also a part of the choir program and during my time in the choir I got to go to New York and preform in Carnegie Hall, I had multiple opportunities to compete in national competitions, and I ultimately expanded my social network. The IB program and choir program were the best parts of my experience not only because of the amazing experiences but because of the people I met along the way. I have created lifetime friendships and that is something more beautiful than anything. My worst experiences were forms of discrimination my siblings and I faced. Desert Mountain High School is not the most diverse scene and as Arab Muslim Americans, we faced mild racism and Islamophobia. These events were resolved however we never felt 100% safe in our school.
I enjoy going to Desert Mountain High Schools. I am in the IB program they have there and they have amazing teachers that help you with your needs. The teachers overall are really helpful and overall engage with the class really well. Being able to learn in such a great environment impacts how well I perform in school. Although I am not in any sports, they have a great football and basketball team with a great music program as well (I was in Orchestra).
