Quinta Brunson is multitalented. She’s an actress, writer, producer, comedian, and a fashion icon. Brunson showed up to the red carpet of the 2024 Golden Globe Awards wearing a silver halter column gown with cutouts along the sides. The dress is custom Balmain. She accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Her hair was styled down on a center part, while her eyeshadow was shimmery to match her outfit.

This year, Brunson is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy for her role of Janine Teagues on Abbott Elementary. She was nominated for the same award at the 2023 ceremony and won.

Not only does Brunson star on Abbott Elementary, but she is also the creator, an executive producer, and a co-writer on the show. In an April 2022 interview with ELLE, she explained what made her want to make a mockumentary-style series.

I credit it to...how I was viewing my mom in the moment. I was sitting at my mom’s desk, watching her have this parent-teacher moment, and I was like, I want the audience member to feel like they’re [here],” Brunson said. “To feel the warmth of the classroom. That observant state I had with her made me want to make a mockumentary immediately.”

Brunson also spoke about her plans for the future of the show.

“When I was [first] thinking about Abbott, I thought about a season one, and then I thought about a season nine. Not that I’m saying it would make it to a season nine because that’s a long way away—I don’t even know if people want [the show] to go to a season nine—but I was like, Where would I like these characters to end up?” she explained. “And I think that, if you know the end of the story, you can do everything you need to do in between to keep it from getting there too soon but still be building up to that.”

Season 3 of Abbott Elementary premieres on February 7 on ABC.
