A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a confrontation over a stolen car led to a shooting Thursday night, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The shooting was reported around 7:47 p.m. in the 1200 block of Tree Line Drive, near Charleston Boulevard and Sloan Lane in the east valley, LVMPD said in a news release.

Officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators learned the man was standing next to a reported stolen vehicle parked in the apartment complex. Two people approached the man and confronted him regarding the stolen car, and the man then got into another car parked nearby.

"One of the individuals who had confronted him produced a firearm and shot the victim," LVMPD said. The Clark County Coroner's office identified the man killed as 28-year-old Rodrigo Maya Blanco.

Detectives identified the shooter as Christopher Hall, 51, and arrested him for open murder.

Anyone with information is asked to contact LVMPD's Homicide Section at (702) 828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
