Cannes to Tribeca: Rose Ganguzza’s Multifaceted Journey with The Xavatar Show
02/10/2023
A few short months after the Xavatar pilgrimage to the Cannes Film Festival, Rose Ganguzza, along with many others, made her way to the Tribeca Film Center to see the Cannes finished product.
For the filmmaker and The Xavatar Show host, events like the Xavatar NYC Screening at Tribeca are integral to any production.
“It’s very important nowadays to understand the multimedia effect of what you’re doing because nothing lives in just one platform,” she said. “There’s too much content out there. So for you to survive within a world where content is coming at you from every single direction, you have to be more inventive.”
The event made sure to move content through different platforms, with a live Q&A after the prepared screening.
The Xavatar Show hosts Jason P. Rothberg, Colin O’Donoghue and Ganguzza made up the panel hosted by filmmaker Antonio Campos, who is also Ganguzza’s son.
She named the Q&A her favorite part of the evening because of its spontaneity and familial aspect.
“We’ve [Ganguzza and Campos] done Sundance together, and we’ve done Cannes together, and Venice, and different things,” she said. “It’s kind of fun to play off of each other … it’s always fun when we get to do it in public, what we do in private every day.”
Surrounded by family and friends, in a place seasoned filmmaker Ganguzza knows well, she spent the night relaxed, describing it as “It’s like being back home.”
