Biography
Charlie Wilson (born January 29th, 1953) is an American R&B and soul singer from Oklahoma, US, formerly the lead vocalist of The Gap Band.
From the age of three, singing has always been an important part of Charlie Wilson's life, training his vocal chords as part of the church choir before eventually forming The Gap Band with his two brothers. The group would go on to have a successful career for over four decades, with their infectious brand of upbeat funk being a constant feature of the American music scene.
Wilson began a solo career alongside The Gap Band, with his 2000 record, "Bridging The Gap" reaching number 30 in the US R&B charts, featuring guest appearances from Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg. This hit album was followed by Wilson signing with the Jive record company for the release of "Charlie, Last Name Wilson" in 2005 achieving greater success, reaching number 10 in the US charts.
The album went on to be certified Gold.
Wilson has enjoyed chart success ever since, featuring on a number of collaborative efforts with Hip Hop artists as well as his own recordings. His 2009 release, "Uncle Charlie" as Snoop Dogg affectionately refers to him as, went to number two in the US charts, with Wilson reaching the top ten again with 2013's "Love Charlie." Wilson has featured alongside artists including Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and U.G.K.
Charlie Wilson has received a number of accolades in his solo career, including seven Grammy Awards nominations and a Soul Train Icon Award in 2009. He has been highly influential in the R&B and Hip-Hop world, influencing the likes of Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and R. Kelly.

Seeing Charlie Wilson live was such a treat for me and my husband. I'd been listening to his music for years and jumped at the opportunity to see his concert.
He's a joy to see and gets the crowd really involved by asking questions right at the start and introducing his music.He was dressed in a really snazzy white suit. He didn't talk that long and jumped right into the show. I was excited to see two ladies walk on stage in white costumes waving these magnificent sheer wings to the music. It was stunning. They were collapsible and when they stood with their arms straight up, they were like stretched out fans glistening in the lights.His rich voice filled the room and the crowd was silent for a time, then they started singing the chorus with him.
Charlie really got into the music. My favorites were "Turn Off The Lights" and "Life of the Party".He's quite the performer. He plays his new stuff and some of the great older stuff as well. I was worried I might not get to hear some of the classics, so I was really excited. He encouraged the fans to sing along and it was so enjoyable.

On March 19 2017 will be an everlasting memorial event for me (In It To Win It).
Yes, Mr. Charlie Wilson a "Phenomenon" man who gave an "Outstanding" performance w/o missing a "Beat". Kudos to your dancers as well their "GRREAT".
At the "Ripe" age of 64 I can say "UR" only going to get "Better" it comes with time.

Charlie, the dancers, his band and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra were amazing! The show was a great time from start to finish. Loved the interaction with the dancers, the band and backup singers! It was a full party on the stage! Charlie has the best on personality and kept the audience entertained as well as engaged. And just in case you didn’t know he had hits the receipts were provided from You Dropped A Bomb to Yearning to Outstanding, etc., we hardly sat down. One the highlights for me was his acknowledgement to Roger Troutman and the Zapp Band. Doo Wah Diddy and I Wanna Be Your Man were played which I thought was pretty cool. My second time seeing him and looking forward to doing this again!

I really enjoyed Charlie Wilson show, the in It to Win It Tour was awesome with Fantasia and Johnny Gill. I thought everyone did s fantastic job. Jonny never looked better, fantasia was on point, but Charlie Wilson laid the foundation. His light shows during his performance, is everything...that man moves better then me. Bless him and everyone on this tour. This is my second concert with him and I look forward to more.

You can tell he's embraced being back in the industry and cares that his fans and audience really enjoy his show. What you hear on the radio is just as authentic in person. His interaction with his band, dancers, and audience is genuine. His energy is addictive! I would definitely go back and see perform! Anybody who hasn't seen him yet you're in for a treat when you do.

Awesome!! Spectacular!! Energetic!! REAL!!! This was a great show. If you have never seen a Charlie Wilson....please put it on your bucket list. The brother can sang. Charlie Wilson does not hold anything back. Charlie had Johnny Gill and Fantasia on the ticket. No lip syncing and they had a live band. Humans playing instruments. We can't stop talking about it. We LOVED the show!!!

Charlie Wilson was excellent as always!! My girlfriend and I couldn't sit down!! We were dancing from the beginning to the end! The special effects on the show and the lit up shoes and outfits were AWESOME!!! Although he didn't feel well, no one would have ever known it. -- he told us at the end of the show!! I will ALWAYS GO TO ANY OF HIS SHOWS IF THEY ARE WITHIN 200 miles!!

Omg I had such a great time seeing Keith Sweat and Charlie Wilson. This was my first time seeing them both and I must say, I would definitely see them again. Uncle Charlie definitely puts on a show. He is so blessed. Seeing them was my birthday gift to myself and I have to say Thank you too both Keith and Charlie for and amazing show as well as Birthday present. Much Love Ms. Tee

There are no words to describe this show. Charlie Wilson was beyond amazing. Had so much fun, he did a lot of crowd involvement with the men and ladies.. had everyone on their feet. I would definitively see him again. I would love to be part of the backup dancers... lol they were very classy.

UNCLE Charlie had the crowd on their feet from start to finish. I have never danced so much at a concert. It was a PARTY FOR REAL. I truly enjoyed the concert and so good to see ppl out having fun and listening to real music. His voice, stage presence, dancers, band, orchestra, and the weather made it a perfect night for me.
