Hundreds without electricity in Macon, Warner Robins. Here’s when power could be restored
Thousands of Middle Georgians are still without power after a series of strong storms moved through the area on Tuesday.
Georgia Power is reporting 25 outages affecting more than 1,700 customers in Middle Georgia. The utility company is currently estimating power will be restored to those customers by 9 p.m. Wednesday, although another round of severe weather Wednesday afternoon could impact that estimate.
Flint Energies is reporting 14 outages affecting more than 350 customers in Warner Robins. The utility company has no estimate for when power will be restored, but it has already restored power to more than 550 customers since yesterday.
For more information on outages, visit Georgia Power’s Outage and Storm Center website and the Flint Energies outage map.
Georgia Power recommends the following safety tips:
- Watch for downed wires. Downed power lines may be hidden by debris or fallen trees.
- Never touch any downed wire or attempt to remove tree branches from power lines – it can kill.
- Avoid chain link fences. They may be electrified by a downed line out of sight and conduct electricity over great distances.
- Move over. Be mindful of line crews and personnel in the field working to make repairs and restore service to customers. Georgia Power is covered by the move over law that requires drivers to provide a buffer to allow crews to work safely.
- Call 911 or Georgia Power if you come across downed power lines or a dangerous condition.
