Gerard is not "here to protect the Earth", he's at best trying to protect his family at worst to die whit them while reconciling with his wife. The general audience did not like it because it is proper drama film and not just bs. Hollywood action movie with Buttler doing what he was doing most of his career. Excellent disaster film - one of the best since Day After, Road, etc.

After watching Roland emerach movies for years (The day after tomorrow, Godzilla 1998, 2012, moon fall) I. Avoided this movie like the plague, but being bored and scrolling through HBO I decided why the hell not, Gerard butler is super hit or miss, But man this is his best acting since 300 and Law abiding citizen/Den of thieves. The movie blew me away only because the movies focus isn’t on “The end of the world” but it’s more of a setting and the focus is on humanity and the way things would go down if a comet would indeed come swooshing in. Without saying more as to not have any spoilers in case you haven’t watched it because the genre ain’t your thing (As it isn’t mine) This movie gets its own special place, Absolutely incredible with fantastic acting. 9.5/10
