A reviewer wrote that this book is written in three parts, the first about Diana, the second about his Army service and the third about the ordeal of trying to get his letters back after a scheming Italian woman stole them. That's about right. James obviously had a way with women. I doubt he ever wanted to get married, but if it would have been with anyone, it would have been Diana. It's also interesting that their relationship cooled off as soon as it was made public, just before he returned from the Gulf. Clandestine relationships thrive with excitement because of their nature, but lose some allure when brought into daylight. I wish him well and hope he has found peace. The last page of the book has James saying a part of him wishes it had never happened. I believe that, too.

This book was surprisingly very well written and interesting. It is definitely a page turner. Gives insight into who Diana was. I enjoyed the book very much and, while I don't by any means condone adultery, it left me feeling empathy for both the Princess and the Major.

I love this book so far. Not quite finished with it yet, but I have enjoyed reading about the life of Princess Diana. Such a tragedy. The book is well written and holds my attention. Hard to put it down. High recommended.

This book left me feeling broken. I feel for both Diana and for James Hewitt. I don't doubt that they were in love and I think they would have had a good life together, but they both should have known better than to get involved in such a hopeless situtaton. Diana knew her marriage was over long before the divorce, she put up with a lot, but she was still a married woman with two children to raise who will have good morals. How must they feel to know both of their parents were untrue to each other.
What Anna Feretti did was unforgivable. No matter how hurt she may have been over the pictures of Hewitt and a lady, she had no right to steal Diana's letter from him and give them to the Mirror. What was she thinking. The greatest ones to suffer from this insensitive act would be the children, the only innocents left in the royal family.
Hewitt fought long and hard to get those letters back and I know they mean a great deal to him and he likes to read them over for comfort, but they need to be buried along with Diana. He will always have her in his heart and that way he can be assured no one else will ever see them.
I wish him a happy life. Diana was a shining star and the skys are so much darker without her light surrounding us. But I know that up there in heaven she has found her peace at last and happiness that will last forever. She was a true gift from God.

Fast shipping and book was in good order. It's interesting to hear another side of Diana's story. Being a former lover of her, James did know her in a unique way. I found it a worthy read.

I believe it is an honest account of "the affair" and it negates the vicious and wicked media accounts. I would recommend this book to "truth seekers". Also it helped me better understand The War in the Gulf and the vital part that Britain contributed.

I think the book is well named. It is an ego trip written about the author's love for himself, not Diana. it is also about the War that happened over in Iraq and the war with his Italian girlfriend who stabbed him in the back gaining his trust so she could steal Diana's letters for the British newspaper. I didn't really think it had too much about his affair with Diana. Like I wrote, it was more of a story about his life, and his love-James Hewitt.

Unlike a lot of people I always thought Diana was sly rather than shy, this comes across, he is extremely courteous about all the remarks he makes, he appears to be a very nice person. the book is very interesting.
certainly not dull.

I read this book as a last resort because I had nothing else to read. Afterwards I felt ashamed of myself for not only was the book a good read I also realised that my opinion of James Hewitt was entirely formed on what I had read in the tabloids and that couldn't be further from the man portrayed here. There is lots on the gulf war here which is actually more interesting than the Diana stuff. And one last thing I will never again buy The Mirror...
