Jack Lemmon Facts

  1. In 2004, his tantalizing performance as Jerry/Daphne in the Marilyn Monroe-starrer Some Like It Hot (1959) was included in the list of ‘100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time’ by Premiere Magazine at #29.

Jack was the first ever male actor to earn an Academy Award in the leading role (for 1973’s Save the Tiger) as well as a supporting actor role (for 1955’s Mister Roberts) in the award show’s history. Some of the other actors to hold the same distinction are Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, and Denzel Washington.
