Montclair State University Reviews
Rating 4.39 out of 5 115 reviews
My program is Family Science and Human Development. I have enjoyed being part of this program because it has allowed me to work with individuals of different backgrounds and get a further understanding of various types of family. I am working towards becoming a teacher and when a student walks into my classroom, they don't just leave their family life at the door. Working with students means empathizing with their families, cultures and backgrounds. The best part of working with this program is the multiple opportunities I have had to learn and grow my knowledge of inclusivity and what it means to make sure every individual feels seen. There has not been a "worst" part through my experience of the program.
The mental health counseling grad program at Montclair State University offers valuable benefits such as supportive faculty who provide mentorship and diverse clinical experiences that prepare students for real-world practice. However, challenges include a heavy workload, limited funding/resources, and potential competition for internships or practicum placements. Despite these drawbacks, the program equips students with essential skills for their future careers in counseling.
