About the author (2002)

Dr. Carl Rubino initiated the Philippine language program at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he taught both Tagalog and Ilocano. With a background in typology, he has lectured on Philippine linguistics on four continents. He currently lives in Washington D.C. where he is a computational linguist specializing in natural language processing and machine translation.
